At a court hearing on Monday, the estranged wife of Pennsylvania Republican Sean Parnell accused the Senate hopeful of strangling her and demanding that she get an abortion.

The explosive testimony, part of a custody battle over the couple's three children, was reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer. Parnell denies the allegations.

Laurie Parnell, however, insists that her husband was abusive. "He tried to choke me out on a couch and I literally had to bite him," she said. "He was strangling me."

On another occasion, she claimed that he left her on the side of the road after an argument in which he insisted she terminate her pregnancy. She also said that he struck their children.

5. Parnell ran for Congress against Conor Lamb in 2019 and refused to concede when he lost.

In a 2019 interview on Fox Nation Parnell made some very enlightening remarks on his views about women:

“The idea that a woman doesn’t need a man to be successful, the idea that a woman doesn’t need a man to have a baby, the idea that a woman can live a happy and fulfilling life without a man, I think it’s all nonsense,” said Parnell.

“From an evolutionary standpoint, it used to be women were attracted to your strength because you could defend them from dinosaurs,” said Parnell. (Dinosaurs went extinct more than 65 million years before humans evolved.)

“But now your financial status in today’s society is emblematic of your strength, which is why you have all these young hotties marrying these old guys," he continued. "I am gonna say something very un-PC, I reject this study wholesale. I feel like the whole happy wife, happy life nonsense has done nothing but raise one generation of women tyrants after the next.”
