(13,571 posts)I find this infuriating.
We, the people, allegedly give our consent to be governed. How can we consent if information that would affect our view of the governance is kept hidden from us during our lifetimes?
Where in our founding documents and/or subsequent legislation is the right to hide information from the American people granted, except for matters of national defense?
Where is the right to privacy of acts of questionable loyalty to our laws and Constitution spelled out? By decree? By fiat? What?
This is the way of a people subjected to bad government or tyranny.
Not the way of a free people.

(13,571 posts)Mueller redactions?
Almost every week, it seems, Senator Blumenthal steps in front of a mic to decry the "shocking and horrifying" classified information he has just seen, and that "the American people have a right to know"
And nothing ever happens.

(9,959 posts)... every intelligent being should know that Crooked Donald asked the Russians for help and then used their help to get elected, over vote-winner Hillary Clinton. She was their "common enemy" and a "human rights" NATO expander, which upset certain world leaders.

(14,118 posts)TFG put out pardons for most of them.
"Over the past many months, Mueller has amassed a stellar track record for prosecutions. According to the New York Times, every person Mueller charged with a crime who is not awaiting a trial has pleaded guilty or been found guilty.
That includes several close Trump associates, including former campaign chair Paul Manafort; deputy campaign chair Rick Gates; his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn; campaign aide George Papadopoulos; and longtime lawyer and "fixer," Michael Cohen.
Including those within and outside Trump's orbit, the Mueller investigation charged at least 34 people and three companies with a variety of crimes."

Power serves its own interests.
And - we should still ask about the Mueller report. If only to show them we may be powerless, but were not stupid.
Edit: My context is Barr and his actions.
