You win some and lose some. Thats the nature of the game. Im already thinking about the next election and taking all 3 statewide positions back in Virginia. Im already thinking about winning the midterms next year and the difficult uphill battle along the way.
Im not seeing my fellow Democrats melt down. Were not in tears. Sure, they won but that win is temporary. Well be back even better than last time.

In It to Win It
(8,254 posts)We gave the GOP a 1 term president for the first time in a long time.
We got 2 Democratic senators from the states of Georgia and Arizona for the first time in a long time.
We got a Democratic governor re-elected in New Jersey for the first time in a long time.
We lose 1 governorship in one state. That's fine. It won't last. I look forward to continuing these trends.

(2,957 posts)Losing to a Republican in a state that Biden took by 10 points just a year ago scares me.
We have a voter turnout problem. We have a public-with-a-short-memory problem. And we have a Fox News and Facebook misinformation problem.
Not to mention recent redistricting that gives the Repubs long term advantage and a whole raft of voter suppression laws in effect across the nation that will reduce turnout even further.
America is finished. The fascists have won. There's no going back without violence. Since I'm opposed to violence, I can only hope that my sons will move to a free country before they all close their doors to us and I'll die of something before Republicans can implement their final solution.
If I can't live in a free America, I don't want to live at all.
In It to Win It
(8,254 posts)I completely recognize that we can lose, and sometimes we will. I am sad that we lost in a state that I thought would be a cake walk a few months ago but I have come to terms with that loss. From my point of view, it's about what we can and should do going forward. Take the information that we will gather from this loss to improve on what we can do better next time.
The midterm is gonna be a bitch. It's gonna be an arduous uphill battle. Until we start seeing those results come in next year, we do everything we can to win from now until then, and that's where my mind is.
