is getting her first Pfizer shot in the arm today, and I couldn't be more thrilled!
Snagged an appointment. Will be late to school! I don't care! Maybe we'll play hooky afterwards and have a fun celebratory day!
Hope everybody with kids is feeling slightly more hopeful and has a pep in their step today!

Yes I would have done the same thing, grab the first appointment I could get.

(13,496 posts)Can't tell you what a relief this will be for us! To be fully vaccinated before the holidays is an amazing relief.

(47,131 posts)I have felt so bad for parents today.
You are going to feel very very relieved after the first shot and then the second.
Best wishes to you and your child. You can now enjoy the holidays safely.

(3,328 posts)All of the eligible persons in my family circle have been vaccinated, against Covid-19. That includes 2 of my 3 grand children, ages 12 and 15. Now the 11yr old can finally get their 2 Covid shots. It is the best news of the week, to me. It's been hard to wait, but it's finally available. I have been especially concerned about the way the, Delta variant, is making children very sick or worse, more than the earlier strains.
Sorry, for sounding so impatient and rambling on, I'm actually so thrilled.

Its been a long and exhausting road!!!

(3,056 posts)This jumped out at me.
I really don't think this is a good idea. I think this is a great idea, and don't even give it a second thought. Go to lunch, get manicures, and go shopping. Buy her a "Vaxxed and proud" mask or something like that. Or do a movie, or whatever your budget allows. Make it a fun day for her. And when you send her back tomorrow with her note, tell them why. Worst case scenario is she'll have an unexcused absence.
Have fun!!!

(2,860 posts)This was back in July. They wouldn't do it. She had to go back a week later. Her two older children got their shots too. Congratulations! I'm sure it's a huge relief. I'm going to go get my booster in about a week.

(13,496 posts)So happy! A weight has been lifted, and we were so lucky! Glad your nieces and nephews got their shots when they could!

(12,429 posts)I was sick with a fever for two days after my second Moderna but only tired for a day or so after the booster. I really hope kids just breeze through it. And, oh gosh, absolutely play hooky! It could be just the kind of day you both remember fondly forever.

(2,692 posts)And let Aaron Rogers go to hell.
((Yeah, I know, whered that come from? A formerly great QB in the NFL who knowingly lied about being vaccinated and knowingly put his teammates, family, others at risk of contracting a deadly virus from him. Hes a dirtbag who is the extreme -- extremely extreme -- opposite of you and your daughter.
You guys represent hope. Rogers (who I actually respected the heck out of until this) represents everything wrong with America and Americans.))

(5,172 posts)It's been a nice relief from the stress of Covid-19, although we are still cautious.
Take care.

(13,496 posts)I don't think we'll be rid of the caution. We live in NYC after all. Public transportation and schools will all require masks for the foreseeable future. And honestly, I may choose to mask on public transit well after mask mandates go away.
