You could see his eyes move as he was reading.
I had to leave after he blamed China for the coal fired power plants that we have here.

(35,348 posts)negotiate. How do you do that when McConnell says Republicans won't vote for anything. China has 3000
coal fired power plants we only have 500 we need to work on technology to clean them up not shut them down.
The old Clean Coal bullshit.

(92,219 posts)people venting before the television cameras, just get to gather and pass the reconciliation infrastructure bill
The reality is there is a 50-50 Senate, and that limits things. We are six months into this, where after 3 months it was very clear where things were. We have a debt ceiling to deal with in December, which will need to be done through reconciliation, and holidays are coming up.
Add to that the high price of oil and inflation, we cant continue this unending negotiations.
It is not a mystery why Bidens favorability is low, and most of that isnt Bidens fault.
The Democrats in Congress better get their act together before next year

(20,629 posts)Earlier this morning, he was talking about taking something out of the BBB bill, and "trying to do it separately in a bi-partisan way".
DO YOU MEAN, JOE, LIKE THE VOTING RIGHTS BILL YOU WATERED DOWN, AND STILL DIDN'T GET A SINGLE REPUBLICAN TO GET ON BOARD?

(20,629 posts)was specifically related to the prescription drug price negotiation issue. Which is LITERALLY the #1 most popular issue (out of nearly 200) across the board with Democrats, Independents, and Republicans.

(43,415 posts)He wants a BBB pause again, but at least did not say until 2022 (although 2022 is almost here anyway).
He says that Medicare expansion will crash an (his words) already almost (in 4 years) insolvent programme.
Says he supports Paid Family and Medical Leave, but that is HAS to be a bipartisan standalone bill.
Now he is whingeing on that coal is getting the hell beat out of it in America.
Now he is getting angry and doubling down that he will not bend.

Criticizing Manchin or Sinema will accomplish zip. We have a 50-50 Senate, and that is the reality
Lovie777
(12,278 posts)claiming that the BBB won't help the Democrats in 2022.
So there you have it. When I see articles like that I come to the conclusion that it's the total opposite.
JohnSJ
(92,219 posts)how will we justify that? Blaming Manchin, Sinema, progressives, or moderates, will not cut it with the voters.
Passage wont guarantee doing well in the midterms, but not passing anything will be a disaster

(35,348 posts)and I have visited 40 states. Both my parents came from WV I love going to the mountains. The picture is beautiful but that is in
the mountains the other two thirds of the state aren't so nice. Ohio, Pennsylvania and every other state have some beautiful
country my personnel favorite east of the Mississippi is Virginia..

(972 posts)That was my take. He also said use 2022 to get more progressives elected so they won't have to depend on him.
Beyond that though it was a pretty scathing commentary. I'm typing what I remember from memory as I was listening to this in the car but basically that we don't know the math in this. The real cost is likely to be twice what they are saying. We borrowing money to pay for this. When interest rates go up to slow down inflation that amount of money the we are paying on our debt is going to increase to cover borrowing more money at a higher interest rate.
