So they just left her and her staffer behind to fend for themselves?

(8,361 posts)If they had found her or Nancy, they would have met a violent presence. No doubt in my mind about it. They were hunting for Dems.

(112,236 posts)I've been in this wheelchair for over 15 months and my brother still blocks the pathways inside the apartment with boxes. He also parks his truck so that it blocks the gate leading outside the apartment complex so that I can't get outside to catch the bus.

(12,659 posts)He just goes on doing what he's always done until reminded that other people might be impacted.
Things like the ability to automatically visualize accesses and hazards for members of the household before just putting something down on the floor, or putting shopping or deliveries away as soon as they're in the home just doesn't occur to some people. It's not necessarily being intentional or resentfully passive aggressive, it's just being immature. Some people just don't grow up.
My granddaughters do the same thing. But then, they're 5 and just turned 10.

(5,172 posts)Senator Duckworth is always an amazing inspirational fighter, survivor and patriot.
Oh that's right, just bunch of cop killing, sh*t smearing, capital breaking, antique stealing good tourists of the GOP in there.

(6,829 posts)There are plenty of able-bodied younger staffers or police who could have helped. Or two people creating a sling with their arms.
This says a lot about the callous selfish senators and staffers in that chamber

(58,785 posts)but I couldn't access this account.
From previous reports, she was in a tunnel headed to the Capitol and senate chamber when officers there informed her the Capital had been breached; but they didn't realize it was going to become bad and felt she had time to get to the chamber. She decided not to continue, though, knowing that only one entrance and exit could accommodate her wheelchair and that if it got worse the senators and staff would be crowded downstairs to the tunnels.
So she returned to her office in the Hart senate office building and barricaded with two aides while they watched, her enraged, the assault on TV. Meanwhile, Amy Klobuchar let her know the Capitol Police were on their way to move her to a secure location. When the officers arrived they identified themselves by saying Klobuchar had sent them, which the insurrectionists wouldn't know. And then they moved her and her aides to the more secure location.
Is there more?

(2,541 posts)That as a nation of laws there has not been 1 arrest of anyone in congress or the White House for the events that occurred on 1/6. The mountain of evidence showing premeditation and cooperation between multiple officials in the legislative, executive and judicial branch is clear.
The Capitol Police did an amazing job that day protecting elected members of congress even though they were being undermined by members of the very congress they valiantly risking their lives to protect, officials in the WH and the heads of several departments like DOD and DOJ. There is no question that had the insurrectionists got hold of certain members of congress like Nancy Pelosi, AOC or Ilhan Omar bodily harm would have been done to them.
Yet here we are 10+ months later and all still walk free and continue to push the big lie and stoke the flames for what appears to be preparations for a second attempt after learning from the mistakes of the first attempt.
