Maize Hirono Says Democrats Need To Tell Voters Who's Screwing Them Over

Maize Hirono Says Democrats Need To Tell Voters Who’s Screwing Them Over
Democrats have largely refused to take the bait, but Sen. Maize Hirono said that it is her strategy to communicate to voters who is screwing them over.

Sen. Hirono (D-HI) told reporters:

?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1455913317915049989%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.politicususa.com%2F2021%2F11%2F03%2Fmaize-hirono-says-democrats-need-to-tell-voters-whos-screwing-them-over.html

Sen. Hirono offered any Democratic candidate some great advice. It is great to accomplish things and tell the voters what you have done for them, but if there has been one thing missing in all of the 2021 campaigns it is a message of what Republicans plan to do if they are restored to power.

For instance, voters can expect Republicans to undo and gut universal pre-k, the child tax credit, and the agreement to lower prescription drug prices. Instead of focusing on what happened in Virginia, Democrats should be telling voters who is out to screw them over.

With a year to go until the midterms, it is time for Democrats to go on offense.

use the scare tactics of phony claims about what Dems would supposedly do if elected, Dems have remained silent about Republican agendas.

Get it out in the open and put the Pubs on the defensive for a change. Tell people how Pub tax credits for the wealthy put the tax burden on the middle and working classes. Tell them how phony the trickle down policy is. Make it clear what a Pub majority in Congress would do to Social Security, Medicare, drug prices, the child tax credit, daycare and early childhood education, minimum wage, labor laws, etc.

People do not see the direct results in their lives of how they vote while they are focused on the "culture war" issues that Pubs use in order to distract them from how they are being screwed. So spell it out for them. Lift the smoke and mirrors so they see clearly what Pubs are doing to them.

At least identify the filthy rich who are buying our politicians. Identify the oligarchy.

Oh, no, she just names a political party. How useless.

Here are the names of the people who made sure Virginia will remain in the dark ages:

Matthew Calkins, $4.1 Billion.
Daniel D'Aniello, $3.8 Billion. ...
Winifred Johnson-Marquart, $3.6 Billion. ...
William Conway Jr., $3.4 Billion. ...
Gottwald Family, $3.1 Billion. ...
Michael Saylor, $2.3 Billion. ...
Steve Case, $1.5 Billion. ...
George Pedersen, $1 Billion. ...

Those are the people who would have given Virginia Hitler if it made them a few extra bucks.

Capitalism buying up your government too.

If you want to get swing voters on board for addressing climate warming, create ads showing how it is damaging US communities. Create ads showing people without healthcare, as in Texas, because Republicans refuse to expand Medicaid. Talk about cancer and how those with health insurance can get treated while those without cannot. We allow Republicans to portray us to the voters, and that’s just stupid.

Republicans are campaigning 365/24/7. They use every possible series of words, nonsense or whatever, and repeat the ones they think succeed with their base. The Russian roulette method of messaging. They always have at least 1 chance out of 6 hitting a winner.

Democrats are like sleepwalkers compared to them. Has anyone else noticed that the only reliable pro-Democratic campaign actors to produce in these off years are organizations like LTP and Media Matters for America? Both of these are run by people who cut their political teeth in the other camp. Odd, eh?

What's up with that? Can't Democrats afford polls? The message needs to be, Democrats=good and Republicans=bad. Why? because we say so. Over and over and over. Just that simple. Throw in a few facts if you want to get fancy but don't rely on explaining the complicated to the average independent/swing voter. Complexities will be either lost to the tendency of low-info types to turn off their ears after the first 4 syllables or poisoned when Republicans misrepresent those facts and use them, EFFECTIVELY, to beat the Democrats with.

Democrats allowed the Republicans to get away with painting McAuliffe as indecisive and a corrupt tool of the DC political elite. How did that manage to work for them? Through all the blatantly despicable antics of the QOP how did that message even get a hearing? Suburbs, man, the suburbs have allowed themselves to get nervous about stuff and I haven't seen Democrats message much except how big the challenge remains. That has NO calming effect.

That's very true! We should go on the offense AGAINST REPUBLICANS, right?

Unfortunately we have so-called "allies" who compare Democrats to a bowl-of-shit... and who spread the false message that progress (actual progress) made through compromise is nothing more than "a shit sandwich without the bread". The lies and smears and attacks only serve to create an atmosphere of negativity: Negativity generates apathy. Apathy discourages voter turnout. Low voter turnout gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections.

This means that we not only have to compete with the LIES from the Republicans, but also the LIES and distortions that come from individuals, pundits, and politicians who should actually be attacking and smearing the Republicans INSTEAD OF the Democrats.

They will vote Reep if they can.

When the candidate or the economy is THAT bad, they
either don't vote, vote indy, or sometimes vote Dem
as in the case of Biden.

They are racist, inclined towards classism and wealth,
and look down on the poor.

No Dem message is going to change that.

However, if Dems were to mobilize their forces towards
actually fighting criminality and bad laws; reach out
to allies and young people who know how bad things
are going to get for them...

then we have a chance for change. Not till then.

Democratic leadership won't do it I guess it's up to us.

Sometimes all it takes is to strike up a conversation while shopping or checking out of a box store.

Ya gotta adlib at times, there isn't a set script.

I'll start with, "well, at least we're getting a raise in our SS in January" if I get a response I'll go on with,

"Too bad it's going to get eaten up by the raise in Medicare premiums. Wouldn't it be nice to be a multi millionaire

like our electeds are and have our healthcare insurance paid for by the commoners".

It's amazing how much you can stuff into a 90 second conversation.

That would not be hard to do. It’s not like the GOP hasn’t handed the Dems a smorgasbord of issues it could hammer the GOP with. Of course Dems would have to finally let go of the illusion they hold that the GOP is somehow suddenly going to realize the insanity it has embraced. Oust its members who are clearly not tethered to reality and think that JFK Sr. & Jr. are coming back and itself must clearly and convincingly come back into the factual reality the rest of the world lives in….

One could start by telling voters the last time the GOP was in power through either incompetence or criminal neglect the GOP killed ~770,000+ Americans…and tried to overthrow the government.

Scare voters by telling them all the good things republicans will take away from them, and the awful things they will do if they get elected.

Just using CRT as an example: "Republicans want to teach white supremacy in schools" would be the right answer there.

Most of us don't live with abusive people and don't hear the verbal abuse, the controlling behaviour, the actions that lead to compliance and acceptance that the abuse is normal. It is like American voters are living with the abuser who shouts, screams, curses and threatens. It hasn't come to throwing things, kicking the pets or beating a human, but if we don't see what we're living with, it'll keep escalating.

I learned to assert myself a long time ago. I worked at jobs where a high percentage of people, mainly women, at the job had been abused to varying degrees. I learned to identify the signs and kept counseling and domestic abuse support contacts handy. I don't tolerate abusive behavior in my life, and I don't like waking up to r's using the same tactics to beat us Americans down. I feel like if the content of counseling programs for domestic abuse were advertised as PSAs and we tried to raise consciousness of what's happening in the relationship between elected r's, their enablers, and voters, maybe it would help slow the direction we are headed.

I'm not making light of domestic abuse or its victims. I saw domestic abuse ruin personal lives and I see the same actions ruining our country.

I'm glad whenever an elected official speaks up, but we all need to tell the r's the abusive behavior is unacceptable and has to stop.
