The Ahmaud Arbery jury selection really exposes the outrage of the law as set forth by the US Supreme Court. Even where a judge *thinks* there’s intentional discrimination, if attorneys can marshall a “race natural” basis for the strike, judge can still allow case to proceed.

Black jurors in the Ahmaud Arbery case could be struck if they answered—truthfully—that they believed the Confederate flag was a racist symbol. Unbelievable the question was even allowed to be asked. Unbelievable that this was considered a “race-neutral” reason to strike.

Jury selection in the #AhmaudArbery case involved questioning on experience with racism and “…whether they found an old Georgia flag — featuring the Confederate battle emblem — to be a “racist” symbol.”

Surprise - only one black juror remains.

Hopefully even with this they will win a conviction, but if not they sure seem to have a great case to throw out the verdict and retry.

Retrials for someone found not guilty are not allowed.

A complaint alleging judicial misconduct would be addressed separately.

I'm white, and I would have answered "yes" - had that question been posed to me in the jury box.
