Erie Pa. Repub wins County Exec against trans Democrat, "misplaced votes"

Brenton Davis wins Erie County executive race; Tyler Titus concedes
A.J. RAO | ERIE TIMES-NEWS | 3:51 pm EDT November 3, 2021

GREG WOHLFORD, ERIE TIMES-NEWS
Republican Brenton Davis, a Navy veteran and small business owner who staked his candidacy on a revival of economic development and a brash pro-business, no-new-tax agenda, will be Erie County's new executive.

Defeating Democrat Tyler Titus by a roughly 3,000-vote margin, Davis, 38, will become the youngest-ever Erie County executive and the first Republican to hold the office in nearly 20 years. The late Rick Schenker served from 2002-06.

Youth factor: The next Erie County executive will be the youngest ever. Here's what voters have to say

A closer look: Republican Brenton Davis summons 'underdog' spirit in county executive race

Davis, who failed to clinch the Republican nomination for county executive in 2017, told the Erie Times-News on Tuesday that his apparent victory felt "surreal."

....

Titus conceded the election in a statement Wednesday afternoon, officially ending their historic run to be the first openly transgender person elected as a county executive.

Tyler Titus, candidate for Erie County Executive, talks with supporters on May 18, during the primary, at Artlore Studio in Millcreek Township.

“Since launching my campaign, I’ve talked with so many people who found a home in our campaign, who found light and inspiration in our shared vision for an inclusive future," Titus said in the statement.

"I hope queer, trans and non-binary youth who are unsure of their place in this world look to this campaign and feel hope for their future, see themselves in government, and believe tomorrow will be better than yesterday."

....

"Vote count
By 2 p.m. Wednesday, unofficial results from all 149 precincts in the county, plus a total of 19,404 mail-in ballots, showed Davis winning with 34,506 votes over Titus' 31,767 votes.

On Tuesday, election officials were only able to count 147 out of 149 precincts after the memory cards containing the results from Erie 5-8 and Springfield Township were not returned to the Erie County elections office as expected.

Erie County Clerk of Elections Doug Smith dismissed the issue as a result of human error and said the memory cards were retrieved and the votes counted Wednesday."

Smells like bullshit.

When I went to bed election night, Titus had a comfortable lead.

A union buster has been installed in the middle of a solid blue city.

The election wasn't just in a 'solid blue city.' It was in all of Erie county.

Are you aware that Trump won Erie County in 2016 and almost won it in 2020?

The election will be certified anyway. Just ask Trump.
