(31,997 posts)I get tired of the complainers.
There is such a thing as a remote...
also-HBO is a pay channel.
Do NOT have to watch

(63,221 posts)Looking forward to Amy and MED, not familiar w/ the last person though. I suppose I could look him up. Still worth a watch though.
Even though Bill can annoy me at times, I still think he's pretty funny for the most part.

(205,467 posts)And I try to never forget that Bill is actually a comedian! He does care about this country, but he also goes for the laughs. And if you watch late-night TV like I do, he appeared more than once on "Murder, She Wrote!"

(11,471 posts)Have since he was on ABC. Yes he's changed but haven't we all?

(205,467 posts)And of you remember some of the guests he had on that show, there was never any effort to be "politically correct!"

(11,471 posts)And I only watched him when I couldn't sleep, lol. Didn't really know who he was then, wasn't involved like have been last 20 yrs.

(205,467 posts)Freaked me out. And my mother was not a fan, she used to interrupt to give me a hard time about watching it.

(11,471 posts)I couldn't believe America would vote for Bush being so dumb and that was before all the horrid crap he did.
It was the first time I missed voting for pres and I felt bad, my father had just died and I got married a month later moved and forgot to change my voting address which was 3 hours away.
I was living in CA then so at least my vote wasn't crucially needed.

(205,467 posts)After all we'd seen, especially the invasion of Iraq (I was on DU the night of "shock and awe" ), I couldn't believe it. I actually felt sick, kept going back and forth with my friend who felt the same way and on DU they repurposed the GD and GDP Forums, one designated for posts for those of us who were upset and needed sympathy and the other for those who were angry and needed to vent. I posted in the first one.
And I' so sorry that you had so much to deal with on top of that. But you're right about your vote and it was the same for me - since I'm in New York.

(11,471 posts)I joined DU in 2004. Do you remember the thread the day after election where we all said our real names? For many years after if I googled my name DU thread came up.

(28,264 posts)Wouldn't want to keep you waiting too long.
Maher ought to be especially insufferable, given the election results in Virginia and Manchin's successful kneecapping of Biden's programs. As usual, I won't be watching.

(143 posts)I say gloatwhining because they'll spend probably at least 50% of the show complaining about how wokeness is killing the Democratic party and taking over America without proposing a single viable remedy for it. Shame, because I find most of Bill's New Rules hilarious. Hopefully Mr. Dyson will have some good rebuttals ready for them.

(205,467 posts)And while I don't know Glenn Loury, we can likely depend on Michael Eric Dyson to keep the other two in line, LOL. And I agree that Bill has been on a winning streak with New Rules...

(205,467 posts)Back in the day, the show used to be posted - but with a warning that it wouldn't last long. So I started posting the "official" videos which never disappear - but have started adding a decent "bootleg" video, if I can find one, since they never include the whole show (usually the panel discussion).

And Maher has turned into a whiny little shit who is only concerned about his bank account.

(70,706 posts)we ain't SKEERED of MAHER/ROGAN - our minds are strong enough to separate the chaff from the grain.
The key is being SECURE in our own selves and beliefs. We can LOOK WITHIN ourselves for our own constructive criticism to maximize our effectiveness.
We ain't SKEERED.

(205,467 posts)(And we probably could name names). But that doesn't mean that I don't find it informative overall and he often has really interesting guests that I wouldn't be aware of otherwise. And yes, we know enough here to "take what we want and leave the rest..."

(70,706 posts)As for the widespread criticism here of his hosting Wingnuts or himself critiquing Dems - he stands up to them well enough most of the time and it's an identifying criteria that Dems look inward for root causes while Wingnuts look outward for somebody to blame.
