Breaking: Ciattarelli, Not Conceding, says result will be legal, fair

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — The result of New Jersey’s election for governor will be “legal and fair” no matter the outcome, Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli said Thursday in his first comments since The Associated Press declared incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy the election’s winner.

Ciattarelli has not conceded the election.

“No one should be declaring victory or conceding the election until every legal vote is counted,
” Ciattarelli said in the 2-minute video clip posted on Twitter.

Ciattarelli, a former Assembly member, said he will wait for the state’s 21 counties to complete counting thousands of mail-in and other ballots, which could take until next week, before deciding whether to ask for a recount.

Under state law, there is no automatic recount and the party seeking one must file a suit in state Superior Court in the county where the recount is requested.

Even though they are still counting, which is what he said to do KEEP COUNTING, he's now gearing up to say that "Dems stole the election from me, because I was way ahead on election night."

...absentee votes will be counted.

There was no reason to concede.
I did read (somewhere) that there were a lot of absentees , too.
So regardless if the #'s don't look like it's possible, unless it's so lopsided already, Stop concedeing early.

There really is no rush, since the VA race isn't certified till the 15th.

I was a bit miffed at that decision.

5. He has almost certainly lost, but there is no reason to concede today rather than next week

At this point, he is 2.2% behind - nearly the same as VA where McAuliffe conceded. It is extremely unlikely that he can make up the over 50,000 votes he is behind.

At this point - unlike the right on twitter - he is not claiming fraud or anything else other than it is close and there are votes out.
