But oh well. It's become the usual and means we're doing good. I'll never forget the tangible depression in 2018 as Democratic election wins just kept being called all day long and longer.
Odd, as you say, bless their hearts.
Just ran across this little list that made me smile anyway.

Manchin has a very solid reputation among his colleagues for doing what he says he will and for being open to negotiation within his established limits. He likes Biden, and vice versa. What he's been able to have removed is enraging, but my brief fantasies about him getting run over by a truck (survives but too hurt to come back this term) don't keep me from remembering the many positive things -- like that he has promised to help pass the BBB. He also promised Biden personally to help pass the initial giant rescue package, that he "wouldn't let him fail." And he did, with relatively few cuts, less than many observers expected. I don't forget he voted against the Pubs' 2017 giant tax heist, and on and on.
Sinema? As I think (?) Brian Williams said humorously, absolutely no one trusts her. And no one who's talking seems to know what she's about. I'm wondering if she may turn out to be a self-destructer, one of those whose real talent for self aggrandizement is paired with a package of dysfunctional traits, like a more successful Tulsi Gabbard type. Hope so, actually, but she could stabilize in a reelectable form.

Most of the moderates aren't the problem.
It's a handful of folks and they've been squirrelly for awhile now.
