Let's be clear...
The Repug politicians and the Jan 6 type thugs are dead serious about taking over the country, by whatever means necessary. The Abbot, DeSantis, Tucker, Levin, MTG types are fueling the thugs' emotions everyday and the thugs are intimidating the anti-Trumpers...if they can't defeat Democracy in the elections, they'll just eliminate the opposition.
I think I already said it but playing nice with the Trump movement ain't working...
