In 2016, the economy was NOT THAT BAD!!! Sure, there were pockets that still suffered, largely because the repubs were riding the brakes on Pres Obama for years upon years. But, overall, things were not that bad. Unemployment had dropped under Pres Obama, wages were stagnant (see above about repubs in Congress, but overall people were getting back to work.
The point being, like everything else trumpian, his original "win" was based largely on lies about unemployment and inner city crime and violence that convinced millions of people that we needed a change to him and his "only I can fix it" mantra. With not many policy offerings beyond a useless border wall that "Mexico will pay for" he bullshitted his way in like in everything else he has done through his pathetic existance.
The final point being, we need to make sure that the American people feel better off and know why and how that happened. Most importantly, they need to be told, over and over, exactly who did that and who opposed it. Things are looking up a bit. Pass BBB and they'll get better yet.
Keep the faith and continue the work.
