I could swear I remember this happening, but my google search turned up empty
But, after all the outrage over Kathy Griffin & her holding up Trump's severed head at the end of a play, I could swear I remember reading that the same troupe of actors that performed that piece had done similar a few years earlier with the actor/actress holding up Obama's severed head. Is my memory faulty, or did this happen?
(I brought this up because Griffin had tweeted today in response to Paul Gosar about how after the Trump's head incident, she got visits from the FBI & Secret Service and was put on "no fly" lists)

(56,828 posts)but, i thought before Griffin & Trump, there was a similar situation where another actor/comedian was in the same situation & held up Obama's head. But, I guess my memory is faulty.

(52,253 posts)the whole stunt was a response to Donnie's horribly misogynistic "blood coming out of her... whatever" statement about megyn Kelly.
The media always finds a way to make the story whatever republicans want to talk about and pave over the real topic.
Let's not talk about a ridiculously anti-woman presidential candidate, let's talk about a fake outrage over some d-list comedian's joke.
(I only call her d-list because she refers to herself as such. I'm actually a big fan of hers.)
Right wingers routinely hanged or burned Obama in effigy and put sniper targets on political opponents. But yeah. Let's get upset over Kathy.

(3,341 posts)no one elected Griffin to a leadership position as Gosar was.
I think we hold (or should hold) vastly different expectations in comedians as opposed to those we elect to represent our voice.

(32,645 posts)Kathy Griffin lost shows and bookings after that incident for at least a year, probably longer. They made her grovel and apologize, which she did. Meanwhile the horrible abusive tweets and emails she received from ChumpHumpers on Facebook and elsewhere were just staggering.
I didn't know about the "no fly" list, but it stands to reason. All Chump ever does is get revenge on people. That's all he cares about.

(57,106 posts)... speaking at a function in Phoenix. Griffith definitely got over reative attention for waving a terrible papier mache version of 45's head. She got waaaaaay too much heat on that.

(56,828 posts)I remember Bush & Game of Thrones. But, I guess my memory is faulty and maybe I'm conflating Griffin's actions with something else done to Obama by a celebrity that was no big deal...

Writing on Twitter, Griffin noted that she was once nearly charged with "conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States" after tweeting an image of herself holding a likeness of the severed head of former President Donald Trump.

....The backlash cost Griffin marketing deals and her spot on CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast with Anderson Cooper. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Secret Service investigated her to determine if she was, in fact, a threat to the President.
