(153,169 posts)a coworker was late to work because his gay sister called him screaming about a spider......he said, it's ridiculous, her girlfriend could kick my ass but she can't take care of a spider?

(11,795 posts)The spiders probably aren't deadly, but I don't stick around to ask.
Aristus
(66,394 posts)But one time, Mrs. Aristus and I were walking along the local public bike path, when a large dog came charging at us from his owner's back yard, barking up a storm. I can barely remember what happened then, but Mrs. Aristus says I jumped in front of her and picked up a large rock, preparing to bash the dog if I had to.
The dog backpedaled to an abrupt stop, waited there for a second, and then loped off home. Mrs. A has called it her "My hero!" moment ever since then.
I can only imagine what the dog might have done if we had stepped off the public path and on to his owner's property.

(65,078 posts)...red winged blackbird in our yard.
It was death defying!
Actually, I just pulled her sideways and swatted at the bird with a gardening glove.
I caught the tip of the wing and the bird bolted.
There was a nest with eggs in the ornamental where she was planting marigolds. (I was mulching.)
About a week later the eggs hatched. A few weeks after that, I knocked the empty nest out of the bush. Birds never came back.
It was truly heroic!

(6,395 posts)We got a new room.
Oh and a garden snake that some how got in, poor guy was probably terrified of our cat as he had him cornered. But I didn't defend her, male neighbor was home and scooped him up with a bucket and released him outside in a vacant area. The cat was mad.
But I have saved my wife's life a couple of times.

(15,540 posts)I'm trying to think of a time in all my 72 years on this earth when a man protected me from anything.
Hmmm.......give me a couple of weeks and maybe, just maybe I can come up with something, but right now - I got nothin'!

(16,829 posts)So I guess that's a case of good men protecting you from potentially bad men.

Seems like the answer most often given is "another man", so your answer would fit in that category.
