I can't believe it's taken this long for something to finally happen.

The enablers got away with it for so long that we all believed there would never be any consequences.

They have been named for violating the Hatch Act. That's as far as it goes.

There will be no consequences.

I think I remember hearing that word before, but it only had something to do with poor people, black and brown people, or people without important connections. I'm confused how the word might apply here.

I've learned there are no consequences for republicans. Consequences are strictly for Democrats.

But I will eagerly tune in to any sentencing hearing. Makes one wonder, though, why the Department of Justice didn't do anything about this while the former guy was parking his ample keister in the Oval Office.

Oh yeah, I remember: It's because DOJ considered itself the former guy's personal law firm, the good kind of firm that has lots and lots of attorneys on staff and that never sends out a bill. There's probably more than one person still there that should be made to answer for putting the former guy above the law.

The penalty structure for violations of the Hatch Act by federal employees includes removal from federal service, reduction in grade, debarment from federal employment for a period not to exceed 5 years, suspension, reprimand, or a civil penalty not to exceed $1,000.

5 U.S.C. § 7326(2). Note that this statutory maximum penalty amount is subject to annual adjustment by the Merit Systems Protection Board pursuant to the Federal Civil Penalities Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015. The current maximum penalty can be found at 5 C.F.R. § 1201.126(a).

(From: https://osc.gov/Services/Pages/HatchAct-Federal.aspx#tabGroup51 )

Jail is not part of a possible penalty.

Also Jen Psaki violated the Hatch Act a few weeks ago, she says she'll be "more careful" in the future.

I'm sure it will be as equally intriguing as the daily reports from each of the last 1,800 days.

I really wish I could live inside the world of those who STILL believe there will be ANY consequences.
