(28,820 posts)Who else should take responsibility for his comments?
Geez Aaron, dig that hole deeper.

(16,646 posts)It's the classic nonapology apology. You don't apologize for having done something wrong, you express sorrow that other people perceived that you did something wrong.

(13,496 posts)he can't even live by his convictions.
At least Cole Beasley, Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold, Lamar Jackson, and Carson Wentz are public to people about their choices. People can choose to associate with them or not. They have to follow the public rules the NFL has for the unvaccinated players.
Aaron wanted it both ways, like a true narcissist. He's the worst of the bunch.

(28,820 posts)Anyway its done. He got a slap on the wrist and he will play.
I knew it would turn out this way. Rodgers is the team. None of his teammates have publicly said one thing. NFL is probably paying all fines. That kind of money is pocket change.

(29,673 posts)The Green Bay Packers took the brunt of the punishment dished out by the NFL for violations of the COVID-19 protocols, although quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasnt completely spared by the final results of the leagues investigation.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, the Packers were fined $300,000 for violations, while Rodgers and receiver Allen Lazard were each fined $14,560. No suspensions or draft pick penalties were issued.

(28,820 posts)Like I said...$14,560 is pocket change to Rodgers.
Question now: Will he get vaccinated? With a Covid vaccine that is.

(65,076 posts)As soon as he said "Yeah..." to a direct question about vax status, he confirmed that he's a liar.
That's not misleading. It's lying.

(16,829 posts)You lied about getting vaccinated. You knew what they were asking you, and you were deliberately evasive. That's what lying is.
You have given out a lot of mis-information about Covid, and about the safety of the vaccines. You listened to the opinions of people who are not qualified to give a medical opinion on the matter. Homeopathy didn't prevent you from getting Covid, did it? Ivermectin is for treating parasites, not viruses. Even an average high school student knows this.
You lied about being allergic to the vaccines. Allergic reactions are extremely rare. You don't know ahead of time if you are going to have an allergic reaction. All of the side effects you've mentioned are extremely rare. Your odds of getting CTE after playing football all these years are over 90%, but you keep playing football. CTE is a lot worse than an adverse reaction or infertility.
There is a pandemic going on and the appropriate response is vaccination. It not only protects you, it protects everyone around you. That's what you are missing here. ITS NOT ABOUT YOU.
You are not an expert about anything except football. You are evidently not a critical thinker. And you certainly aren't the smartest guy in the room, unless the other people in the room are Ron Johnson and Donald Trump.
And BTW, if you are so worried about infertility, maybe you should start a family with someone who doesn't eat dirt, and who doesn't believe that exposing her genitals to the sun cures STDs. That's what you should be worried about.
And BTW, two season losses are squarely on your shoulders. You totally screwed up the first game of the season. Not a huge surprise, since you didn't show up for team practice in June. You missed the game against the Chiefs because of your decision not to be vaccinated. If you don't have 2 clean tests, you will miss another game. Then there could be 3 losses that are due to your selfishness and bad judgment.

(16,829 posts)State Farm films ads with multiple players. They can choose to show fewer Rogers ads (and more Mahomes ads) without breaking their contract with Rogers.
And last Sunday they hardly showed any. Of course he wasn't playing last Sunday. I think they will ease away from Aaron Rogers.

Bunch of idiots that think they know better than the experts. Being armchair research and disease experts.
Fortunately he won't be infecting any kids since he doesn't have any.

(10,129 posts)Maybe Im wrong, but this is w/o a doubt driven by his ad sponsors. They will weigh how this turd effort to avoid the actual apology they asked for flops with America and pressure his agent and PR team to do better. Again, maybe Im wrong.

Instead of consulting immunologists, he consulted anti-vaxxer and podcast host Joe Rogan, who also contracted the virus. If he ever requires open-heart surgery will he hand the scalpel to romance writers because they know about matters of the heart? While many who came into contact with him thought he was vaccinated, Rodgers had embarked on his own regimen to boost his natural immunity. He failed, as any scientist could have told himand as they have been publicly telling us for over a year. University of Michigan microbiologist Ariangela Kozik explained that achieving natural immunity through these homeopathic methods is a non-starter because vaccines inform our immune system what the virus looks like so the body can build its own protection....
Whats especially bothersome is that Aaron Rodgers didnt just lie and threaten the health of those around him, he also damaged professional sports. Many athletes make a lot of money on product endorsements, which depends on the publics favorable perception of athletes. In 2020, global sports sponsorship was worth about $57 billion. Yet, every time a pro athlete like Kyrie Irving (anti-vax), Henry Ruggs (speeding at 156 mph, crashing, and killing someone), Evander Kane (forging vaccination card), or Aaron Rodgers does or says something stupid, the public trust in athletes lowers and sponsors might consider avoiding players in favor of actors, pop stars, or social media influencers. Steph Curry and LeBron James dont have to worry, but some up-and-comers might not get the same opportunities.
Rodgers ignorance regarding the science of immunology brings back to life the old stereotype of the big dumb jock. His utter lack of even the most basic knowledge and logic is shocking. In an effort to defend his lying, he stated, This idea that its a pandemic of the unvaccinated, its just a total lie If the vaccine is so great, then how come people are still getting covid and spreading covid and, unfortunately dying of covid? Those two statements dont even belong together. Statistics from many sources conclude that around 97 percent of those being hospitalized or who have died in the past several months are unvaccinated. The CDC found that the unvaccinated are 11 times more likely to die than those vaccinated. If he thinks thats a lie, what credible evidence does he have? None.....
I cant help but think of Colin Kaepernick, who was blacklisted by the NFL for passively expressing his frustration with systemic racisma brave act meant to help his community and save liveswhile multi-millionaire Rodgers will continue to play, despite lying to the fans and his teammates and putting innocent lives in danger. Time will tell whether Rodgers will be judged by the content of his character or the strength of his throwing arm.
