Utah girl, 10, commits suicide after being bullied for being Black, autistic
SNIP-
The girls mom, Brittany Tichenor-Cox, reached out to Davis School District several times to report that her daughter, Isabella Faith Tichenor, was bullied by classmates and her teacher for being a Black special needs student. Tichenor-Cox said school officials failed her child by allowing the harassment to foster for months without intervention
The death of the fifth-grader comes weeks after the U.S. Department of Justice outlined in a bombshell report that Davis School District administrators have intentionally ignored serious and widespread racial harassment in its schools for years.

(29,672 posts)So so so so sad. I want to just hug and hug and hug all this kids that feel they arent worthy. How do we as a society quit this from happening. I know it happens, but I feel so sad it does, and wish there was more we could do.

My 16-year old son came home from his first homecoming dance and was so proud that he danced in front of everyone - including slow dancing with boy. He had a great time.
I was so happy for him, but went to bed worrying about what his homophobic classmates would say or do the next week.

If it does hopefully it will be stopped.
Back in (my) college '72 (NYC on the edge of the East Village) they held their first Gay Men's Dance.

(9,988 posts)What a damning condemnation of the evil that's festering in this country. Happening in such mundane places at the hands of mundane people. "The banality of evil" indeed.
RIP little Isabella. You deserved so much better. Strength to her family, and may those responsible get what they deserve.

(15,334 posts)is to find what billionaire Retrumplicans donating businesses are based out of the state of Utah, and boycott the ever loving piss out of them.
Seriously, these people don't have a conscience. They don't have empathy. They are NOT going to feel sorry, or ashamed about what happened to this girl.
They are going to support white supremacists and insurrectionist Retrumplicans, as long as it is financially beneficial for them to do so
