On this the day of the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month a story:

My late father's dad had already finished Purdue or was just about done when America entered WW I
and so he enlisted into the military and during the war the U.S. was shipping a lot of material through
Puerto Rico. My Grandfather was good with #s and forms used in shipping* and they gave him a choice
of going to Europe for the war or being a shipping clerk in Puerto Rico. "They" told him if he choose
Puerto Rico he would never be an officer to which he said Puerto Rico sounds good to me.

I have no doubts that Granddad's choice of Puerto Rico is why my dad and then later I was born.

Thanx to all of our men and women her were and are now vets.

* We now call that stuff logistics.

Not everyone shoots a gun, not everyone sees combat, but they all made sacrifices.
It's because of them that we are free.
