I guess those $600 a week unemployment payments

wasn't the reason people didn't take shit jobs for shit pay.

I wonder what the reason is that people aren't taking shit jobs for shit pay.

You think the PTB and their media hacks will figure it out?

what was done in the past to fill jobs people didn't want. That would be counterproductive though
the Republicans would go bonkers but it would put the brakes on wages and inflation.

They were second jobs or working retirees who figured out how to make do with less. Older people retired due to covid leaving openings at higher levels so everyone moved up a step creating entry level “not shit” jobs. People with school age children having to deal with virtual school and rolling quarantines. More people doing gig jobs.

Who can't find or afford daycare with the amount they make.

I notice in stores now less older people working so you are right about retired people and part time jobs, not worth catching covid to have extra money.

One of the ways to combat inflation is to do more things yourself. Which means, if your married, one of the two of you staying at home. I know a lot of people that gave up jobs to become stay at home parents and have not started to seek work again. The child care prices are through the roof and finding a job just to pay all the extra money to child care isn't viable or an exciting option.

The other factor is companies that have decided to do more, without more. Meaning MORE hours for those employed, MORE case load for those employed, and MORER stress. However, their pay isn't going up. This happens every contraction at my company. Companies save money forcing fewer people to work harder. Result is, higher inflation prices, but worse service. However, profits are up.

the result of the pandemic. People have wondered for years...decades, even, about what would happen if we didn't have a steady flow of immigrants coming into the country to fill tons of essential jobs.

Well, I think we're starting to see what would happen.

For the doubters, think of how many news reports you've seen over the past several months where the focus has been on small businesses in the food and beverage industry. Immigrants have been the freaking life blood of this industry forever!

To the working class for the first time in decades.

I think a tight labor market helps workers. I would hate to see us open up and lower wages on our most needy citizens.

I think it’s high time that employers be reminded that having a decent work force is a cost of doing business, and that to have a decent work force, employers need to compete for interested applicants.

Another damn acronym assumed to be known to all on Earth.
Google:
Project Team Builder
Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt
40 medical acronyms
Protect The Brothers
Payroll Tax Benefits
Preterm Birth
And many more.
I’m sorry for being such a dunce, but I spend way to much time googling acronyms. If you just spell it out once, we can all get it from there.
Have a wonderful day.
