I'd have ads with dirty tap water, cars falling into potholes, bridges collapsing, internet connections failing with screaming young people, then I'd show people working at repairing them and show the salaries. There are many other details in the package.
Your ideas.

(70,127 posts)it's about investing. not just maintaining, but investing and improving.
mentioned this in another thread- lead pipes. the costs of lead poisoning in medical care, special ed, and too often, prison, should be toted up, and put out there in relation to the costs of the new pipes.
do a cost/benefit on all these things- lifetime earnings increases from early childhood programs. programs to support disabled workers v just warehousing them, or writing checks.
how much do we invest in our citizens? and what do we get for it?
how much was the gi bill? what kind of dividends did that pay?
we need to use that word over and over- investments.
then write a song about it, i guess. cuz people are math morons.
srsly. make some great charts. but make the expected gains concrete.

(86,646 posts)Referring to this as "selling" the idea to voters. There has to be a better term that isn't so pejorative.
Explaining comes to mind.
All they need to know is how this helps them. It's not asking them to fork over cash on hand.
Sorry, that term just rubs me the wrong way whenever I hear it.

The vast majority of news outlets use that term and it pisses me off. They are making Biden out to be a salesman and that is not the case, he's the president and he has a duty to make sure people understand the policy not take their money, that's already been collected in taxes.

(1,954 posts)Too often "Explained" is loaded as "coastal elites talking down to people they think don't know any better". When's the last time you heard someone "'Splain" in a positive manner?
I'd suggest "Showing" or "Showcasing" if we're looking for a relatively non-pejorative term. Relatively neutral and makes it seem like the Infrastructure is a "Big Damn Deal" to even a casual listener who doesn't know what's in it.

start seeing work being done.

(38,317 posts)Installing inexpensive "last mile" 5G rural internet services would be a good one.
It worked for rural electrification and telephone services.
Most of my otherwise "conservative" great grandparents bought into that.
Think we should have ads with rural grandma sending photos vis her new speedy internet service

I know; a hard sell.

(1,896 posts)After all this time how can we not look back and wonder, did the process of collecting data on water needs in times of stress show the difference in party priorities? Will the weather events of tomorrow leave you like Flint?
March 2017
A lawsuit filed by the ACLU and NRDC results in Flint coming up with a plan to replace the citys 1,000s of lead water pipes. Funding comes from the state of Michigan. The outcome also results in extended funding for complete tap water testing, a faucet filter installation, and a training program. Free bottled water will continue to be delivered through the summer months. Health programs are established for those residents affected by Flints tainted water.
So they're finally coming up with a plan?

(15,222 posts)Ads that feature state and/or local Democratic officials who are recognizable with video showing what the bill will do for a specific area. Use video technology to show roads now versus what they will look like after a project is completed.
But have the credit go to Democrats!!! RwcogniAvle faces saying Democrats did this.
In my own state of Texas, I dont want Ted Cruz and John Cornyn taking credit.

Jobs are the big issue here. What there is, don't pay much. I would promote that aspect and the available salaries/benefits.
