I was vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, but now I've decided to get Moderna for my booster. My thinking is that I may be able to benefit from a greater level of immunity by including Moderna, particularly since some studies have shown the Pfizer is more susceptible to waning over time.
What are you all doing?

(14,118 posts)moderna boosters. Sonny had no complaints with his booster. I had a bit more arm stiffness right after my booster than I'd noticed before but some vigorous arm and
shoulder exercise took care of that. I was pretty tired the day after and nothing else
beyond that.

(16,887 posts)Full dose, not the 1/2 portion.
No issues, only a little tired first 24 hrs and sore arm in area of injection.
My antibodies, T cells and B cells were reviewed and they were amazing through the roof.
That was in Summer as part of research on heterologous vaccines. I knew already this summer that the Moderna booster was the way to go compared to the homologous vaccine boosters and the results from Comirnaty as booster to Moderna original vaccinations.
Was tested again each month thereafter and still very high protection after 4 months.

(9,275 posts)Supposedly thats the best combination with J & J. Felt pretty crappy (chills and aches) the next day, fine the day after that. I feel invincible but still mask up when shopping.

(15,279 posts)I heard that was in the works, but I'm not sure if I'm personally eligible yet or not.
My first two shots were Moderna, but, yes, from what I've heard mixing is a good thing, so I'll ask for a Pfizer booster.

(53,072 posts)what led you to make that choice? Or did you get your booster before mixing was authorized?

(5,854 posts)Since I've been in a lot of physical pain for the past 2 1/2 months from a torn/pulled/whatever hamstring, I didn't want to get flu-like side effects that might make the pain worse.

(5,952 posts)My reaction was same to both, extremely sore arm for a few days, night sweats and a low grade fever one day after the shot.

(3,655 posts)The wife and I both had Moderna for rounds one and two back in April but went with Pfizer for round three last week. We both had slight reactions to the Pfizer shots but nothing serious.

(43,540 posts)and the booster 5 months later was the experimental Delta variant tweaked stick
all 3 were at 100 mcg, so full load doses
wifey and I have been in a multifaceted study here in Sweden for ages and volunteered for variant jabs trials
we had origin strain COVID in April or very early May 2020, completely asymptomatic, and no real effects post initial 2 jabs, but at Delta tweaked booster was a blaster for a day and half, especially the first night
sick AF, but then by next night all effects had poofed, thank fuck
I have posted on all this already before

(65,199 posts)Circumstances resulted in my wife getting Pfizer & me getting Moderna. At the time of the first vax, she was 65, I was not, therefore ineligible for Phase 1b.
But, being active as a substitute teacher did make me eligible. A school in the next county over put me on their staff list.
Now, the boosters are broadly enough available, that my wife could go to the CVS here in town, and I went to a CVS in a town about 10 miles north.
It wasn't inconvenient to stay with where we started.
But, if getting Moderna meant driving an hour each way, I probably would have gone Pfizer.

(53,072 posts)when I scheduled my appointment, so I chose Moderna. I get it next Wed. The place is less than a mile from here. I just hope I'm not out of commission on Thursday.

(65,199 posts)...that lasted about 4 hours.
My response to the second shot was 4 times more assertive, and lasted 14 hours.
But, I was full function both times, anyway.
