...the timeline.

The House contempt citation was issued on October 26 (maybe the day after), the indictment was handed down on November 12.

That's SEVENTEEN calendar days, or only 12 working days (omitting weekends and the Veterans' Day Federal Holiday)

The indictment had to be handed down by a Grand Jury, which only meets twice a month (i.e, every 15-16 days)

The fact that this indictment was handed down in such a short time is remarkable. All the pressure in the world from "a huge number of citizens -- a great flood" would not have speeded this up one single minute. I'm sure if AG Garland read the comments from that huge number he chuckled.

It's really disappointing that some are so eager to bash our Democratic Attorney General, appointed by our Democratic President, with absolutely no real world reason.

As for me, I support our Democrats and our Democratic Public Figures.

I see lots of complaints about this from a number of people, few if any actually looked into the details of why it took a whopping 17 days to indict.

Thankfully there have been many legal scholars who agree this happened in an amazingly short time.

I think you may be watching too many conspiracy movies.

Some of us, for decades now, have monitored multiple Internet and social media sites regularly. On all sorts of sites. From Free Republic to Daily Kos and now Twitter and FB and others.

Anyone experienced in this kind of monitoring would have seen the great wave of angst over Garland. From rank and file everyday people up to the most celebrated columnists and influencers known to be Democrats. From judges and prosecutors and even Garland's own law professor.

Now we know that Garland was only involved toward the end of the process.

The same kind of anxiety has been allowed to fester in the matter of Louis DeJoy. Most people STILL don't know that there is an end coming to his reign of destruction soon, as Biden has appointed new diverse board members to fill empty seats and because the man who is protecting DeJoy, Ron Bloom, faces the end of his term Dec. 8. A simple five minute WH introduction of the new board members would have brought that news to the American people. The bright faces of these qualified board members, Senate confirmed, would have done wonders for all Americans who are stressing over postal issues and feel under the grip of DeJoy.

it's important for us to watch for their work and never fall victim ourselves. To never bring hostile anti-Democratic conspiracy narratives back, even inadvertently, from forays into poisoned communities.

It takes a little effort to identify toxic subversion from those normal stirrings of widespread anxiety among well meaning people without hostile agendas. Lots of people want indictments and don't know why they're taking so long. Lots of people want their USPS saved from the bastards bent on taking it away.

Natural anxiety is always weaponized these days, massive lies and insinuations used to blow it up. Look for campaigns designed to destroy belief in the Democratic Party and/or stir up factional infighting, and thus suppress turnout at election time. Hostiles from left, right and foreign nations all use many of the same attack themes, tailoring them to identified vulnerabilities of their target victims.

They're really easy to identify for anyone looking. Who does this insinuation/deceit hurt? Look for "anxiety" that starts resembling concerted sabotage of the Democratic Party. Anxiety turned into anger and blame redirected from Republicans to Democrats is a huge, flashing indicator.

The required dishonesty of course: just check a fact or two, look for deceitful insinuation. If found, bingo! hostile incoming identified.

The same toxic messages pushed many places (anxious citizens just post on a site or two). Common influencers and sources. Cliques on boards hitting the same themes over and over (like insinuations that Biden's AG's betraying us).

Dishonesty, slander, meanness: Honorable people don't behave this way. Basic, and a huge indicator.

On the plus side, those watching for the swell of poisonous waves would be able to identify toxic references brought here and thus would be able to call them out for what they are. Most aren't watching, and of course in a place like DU they shouldn't have to.

Yes, you're relatively new here, even though extremely prolific poster.

My almost eighteen years here, total, tells me that a dominant segment of what's written (aside from actual news reporting) is written for the poster's own enjoyment and/or edification. Not for manipulation. But gamesmanship, bullying, clique activity, snobbery, divisiveness, pretention -- all of those human foibles are here in what is nominally a place for discussion of politics of a certain kind -- a kind of politics renowned for diversity, for open communication, for tolerance and acceptance. Let the people speak freely. The Democratic Party (for many of us) is a big, open tent. We don't impose rules of speech and purity. We are not afraid of ideas. We're not individually or collectively afraid of people unlike ourselves. We're not afraid of debate. We're each well-informed enough to not be bamboozled by propagandists. We believe that Democratic values are strong enough to prevail, without fear or favor, in any discussion or argument. We can laugh, we can ignore, we can trash threads of anything we don't want to read -- anything that scares us. THAT would be more mature, and kind, than what often happens here.

The fear factor expressed by some here is not healthy. Really.

For the record. I am not afraid of anything anyone posts here. It's just pixels. I am informed enough and strong enough to review ideas not like my own. I can laugh at outrageous premises. I can shake my head and feel sorry for some who want to play games. I can argue, and I can provide truths that I see. I can change my mind because of someone else's information or logic. I can post what I believe are corrections to facts, when noted. I can absorb opinions of many kinds from others.
