Biden White House mocked Trump's claim to have an 'envoy ambassador' making foreign visits for him

The White House mocked former President Donald Trump after he said he had an "envoy ambassador" still making foreign trips for him.

In a Thursday statement, Trump said he sent his "envoy ambassador" Richard Grenell to the Kosovo-Serbia border on his behalf to "highlight" an agreement brokered there during his presidency.

"The agreements my administration brokered are historic and should not be abandoned, many lives are at stake," Trump wrote in the statement.

An unnamed White House official dismissed the statement immediately, telling the RealClearPolitics reporter Philip Wegmann: "Outside of his very active imagination, Donald Trump is no longer president and doesn't have any 'envoy ambassadors' representing the United States."

Joe Scarborough Mocks Trump for Sending Ex-Ambassador Ric Grenell Abroad: ‘A Guy I Would Not Send to 7-Eleven’

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough laughed at former President Donald Trump’s choice of international “envoy” Friday, tearing into former acting director of national intelligence Ric Grenell.

Grenell, Scarborough said, was someone he wouldn’t even send to 7-Eleven “to get a Slurpee,” let alone to Kosovo-Serbia. Previously, Grenell served as ambassador to Germany.

Still, that’s exactly what Trump said he did Thursday. In a statement sent out to the Save America PAC email list, Trump revealed: “The great people of Serbia and Kosovo have overcome tremendous obstacles in their pursuit of economic normalization. The agreements my administration brokered are historic and should not be abandoned, many lives are at stake. The region is too important and the people have waited too long for this work to be cast aside. Today, my Envoy Ambassador Ric Grenell visited the Kosovo-Serbia border to highlight this important agreement. Just like we proved in the Middle East with the Abraham Accords, peace and economic normalization is possible, but it takes a sincere effort and unwavering leadership. Peace is possible, don’t give up—long term prosperity for those two nations is at stake!”

Trump is not president and has not been since January, but he still sent an “envoy ambassador” to represent him overseas, which stunned — and amused — the “Morning Joe” host.
