I was elected because I think a handful of my neighbors wrote my name in, and after I received notice that I won, I served a term in my precinct. Ran twice again, got about a dozen votes each time (because the incumbent's name is NOT on the ballot), and continued to serve.

Come 2020, the county was scrambling for poll workers and reassigned me on an emergency basis to a nearby town. When I stopped a maskless woman there from entering the polls, all hell broke loose. The elections board didn't have my back, the bureau of elections didn't have my back, and I was instructed to let her in to vote despite all covid protocols.

I didn't win my precinct race in 2020 (the new judge is a TOTAL Trumper, prone to violence, and probably helped his equally crazy wife get elected as the inspector), and the bureau of elections never got back to me about serving as a clerk in the precinct in this month's election to make sure everything is being run on the up and up. My educated guess is that the judge and his inspector will cause shenanigans at my old polling place during next year's midterms.

With recruiting as many humans as possible to be ready at all (or at least the most vulnerable) polling places. Make sure the MINUTE there is suppression or disenfranchisement, one of ‘ours’ is there to stand firm, witness, push back, and assure that the person can vote legitimately.

Get lawyers, law students, voting-rights activists. Start recruiting now. Makes sure we are well covered in each area, in each state that is vulnerable. I know there are usually ‘teams of lawyers” for each election, but we will need more than a few teams. We need an Army, ready.

We can fight back thru the law, if we are prepared.
