https://www.news9.com/story/6191eae47e853f0bd02202e6/julius-jones-execution-date-set-for-thursday-as-many-anticipate-governors-decisionThe fate of Julius Jones now rests in Governor Kevin Stitt's hands as he's set to be executed on Thursday. This weekend, hundreds gathered in support of Jones.
(snip)
Earlier this month, the Pardon and Parole Board voted to recommend clemency for Jones. The board also recommended a commutation of his sentence to life with parole.
It's now up to Governor Kevin Stitt to make the final decision, whether to carry out the execution. Those in Jones' camp are hopeful that the decision will go in his favor.
(snip)
The rally comes just days after the 10th circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Jones and three other death row inmates, who wanted their executions to put on hold. Their attorneys wanted the executions to stay until a ruling was made in a legal battle challenging Oklahoma's lethal injection protocol.

If you wish, you can call the governor's office at 405-521-2342 and ask Stitt to grant Jones clemency.

I live here and he has already made up his mind sadly Thursday is the day. He wont budge on it unless theres a political reason to.

You're probably right; there's no upside to not executing someone. All that shows is decency, humanity, and the sort of mercy/justice every last one of us would hope to be accorded should we be luckless enough to land in Julius Jones' position. And none of that is likely to win more votes.
