11. Disgusting act of racist mob behavior

The four female suspects in the video, aged 13-16, await charges, including ethnic intimidation, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and terroristic threats, SEPTA Transit Police Chief Thomas Nestel said at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

While Nestel added that the attack was based on “ethnicity” and “ethnic slurs” were hurled at the victims, the incident was “unprovoked.”

"She was a hero," Nestel told reporters about the female victim. "She stepped up and told the girls to stop saying what they were saying. She then became a target. Just truly heroic, courageous."

The mother of one of the suspects turned her daughter in after seeing the video go viral.

15. I went to college in Philadelphia

Even then (50 years ago), there were bands of white teenagers that came out to the campus to attack anyone with hair they considered too long, and attacked them with belts swung with the buckles on the business end. I was lucky to have only ended up with a bloody lip once. Philly is a rough town at times.

16. I had that happen to me in the City Hall Concourse about 26 years ago...

I chose the biggest kid, about 13-14 years old and hit him in the face and smashed his nose. The other two just stood there. Blood everywhere. I punched one of the remaining two in the solar plexus and the third just froze. The other two were writhing on the ground. I waited patiently for the SEPTA cop, showed him my ID as a dentist and he asked me if I wanted to press charges. I declined and he kicked the three of them out for the day I suppose.

The reason, the REASON I did this, and I know what’s coming here, was that one of them was reaching into his pocket and I assumed it was for a weapon. I knew if I hurt the big one the others would stop for an instant. I learned this as a kid getting into fights in school which were “every man for himself “. Lousy youth but useful in certain respects.
