Stand Your Ground laws followed by open carry and then 'constitutional' (it's not) carry.
It is also the harbinger of things to come.
Guns have been normalized in society. Open carry has been normalized. Stand your ground has been normalized and the one left standing gets to tell the only story anyone hears.
It doesn't have to be this way.

One of the chief drivers of this outcome is money in politics. As is well known, the gun industry and the NRA give money to politicians so that any logical well-written gun laws never see the light of day.
It's already tough to get good gun control laws passed. Once something has become normalized, it's entrenched and is much more difficult to dislodge.
We must not despair.
