DHS insists Biden's vaccine requirement for TSA staff will not hold up holiday travel
WASHINGTON (SBG) Almost 100% of employees with the Transportation Security Administration are in compliance with President Joe Biden's vaccine and exemption requirements, reducing the possibility of travel disruptions this Thanksgiving, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Marsha Espinosa told her Twitter followers Monday that approximately 93% of staff "are in compliance with the vaccine and exception requirement." The vaccination rate among TSA employees on Oct.20 was 60%.
"There aren't going to be any disruptions to holiday travel from the vaccination requirement," Espinosa added. She did not clarify how many employees received an exception, and the DHS has not yet responded to Sinclair Broadcast Group's request for that information.
Espinosa's tweet came on the same day the White House announced that more than 90% of all federal workers have received at least one vaccine ahead of the Nov. 22 deadline to comply with Biden's mandate.
