Someone in the crowd celebrating the McMichaels verdict

Was waving an American flag. What a beautiful sight. This is what the flag should stand for. This is true patriotism, asking your country to do better and believing it can do better is not hating your country.
The trumpist idiots wrapping themselves in the flag and trying to destroy democracy are not patriots.
It was nice to see the flag flown for justice and equality.

Rs hug, kiss, & wave the flag thinking that act proves they're real red bloodied American patriots.
Honest American patriots vote Democratic, lets take the flag away from them.

"I" don't need a flag, pin or other device to know how patriotic I am. In fact, I don't need to advertise the facts of my patriotism. But, that is just me.

But I do like the idea of making it clear that RWers don't own it all to themselves. Sometimes, as in the example in the OP, it's nice to see it held up to represent positive values.

To excess kind of says (to me anyway) that this land is special. There is more love professed for this land over other land.

However, in this case the person flying the flag may very well have been saying that this court decision celebrated certain values of the Constitution.

Some love the symbol more that the thing, they worship and salute it while pissing on the land. Dump garbage everywhere and have no resect for the other citizens that make up the country. Rather than standing up for the flag, bend down and clean up your mess.
