The secretive world of corona virus research.

I'm posting this recent Newsweek because it adds some new information about the mysterious Wuhan lab and some scientists here in the States. I apologize for the stuff at the beginning about Dr. Faucci. I don't think that's important. But the stuff afterwards is pretty eye opening, for those who have an interest.

The concerns of some on DU about reading only politically approved publications based on ownership. Information is information no matter where you read it. But, whatever.
I will continue to read The Daily Racing Form.

A lack of evidence proves nothing

He admits he has no evidence of anything other than a few "damning" documents if looked at from the side in poor lighting and without much understanding of the subject matter.

No matter where it leads.

Most detectives don't believe in coincidences, and neither do I.
Too many data points leading to some shocking conclusions about Wuhan.

If this article is correct, the US may claim national security as a reason to clamp down on the
evidence.

and physician Rand Paul
He's an ophthalmologist. Just because one is a "physician", even an expert in their particular niche, doesn't mean they're experts on everything with respect to human biology. It's like saying a guy who does tune ups at the local garage knows everything about formula 1 engines. Umm, no. Appeal to authority? Discount number one for this "scribbler."

...work that arguably fits the definition of gain-of-function.

There's no evidence that the experiments in question had any direct bearing on the pandemic.

The NIH and EcoHealth have asserted that none of the engineered viruses created with the NIH grant could have become SARS-CoV-2. On that, everyone agrees—the viruses are too distantly related.

A lack of evidence proves nothing
Yet, this scribbler goes on to make some rather broad claims...on admitted lack of evidence.

Daszak and EcoHealth may have or proposed to push the envelope on what NIH, DARPA and others thought prudent, but that must also be balanced with the fact that to treat, we must first understand. How do pathogens "gain function" so as to infect humans? The scribbler left that in the dust in his mad, breathless rush to find "Dr. Frankenstein!!!!!" One of the reasons information is kept from scribblers like Jacobsen. At best he doesn't understand and goes off on tangents that are unproductive and dangerous in their own right. At worst he does understand but doesn't care and goes off on tangents that are unproductive and dangerous in their own right.
