Boebert, Greene, and some other Rethugs are not crazy. (Gosar may be.)

They are after donations, and so far it has worked. They know they will escape consequences for saying horrible and false things, and that their supporters will send them money because they agree with the sentiments, or to keep the distractions going, or both.

Boebert and Greene know they will get in the news if they say and do awful things (as long as they don’t go across a line such as to actually assault a fellow Congressperson). They won’t get in the news if they act like an “average person”, and they have no interest in doing anything for their constituents, too many of whom apparently are fine with that, so they won’t make news for good deeds. They want the free media attention, to help them get money and retain power.

This doesn’t require “crazy”; it just requires greed, lust for power, and a total lack of morals.

1. Boebert, Gaetz, and Greene don't do their actual jobs.

Their 'job' is to fly around all over the country rabble rousing and raising money. I think Boebert believes that she's a comedian. That line where she says it was probably safe to be in a an elevator with Omar since she didn't have a backpack was said to numerous audiences. It's part of her comedy routine. Gaetz and Greene fancy themselves entertainers as well. That's what the base of the GOP want out of their elected officials. They want their politicians to entertain them. I've heard many Trumpers say that they liked Trump because he was "the best free show on TV." Fuckers don't understand the difference between government and show biz.

3. It appears to me that our political leaders have gone down

the social media rabbit hole. Just think about today's world - fortunes are made by a social media presence. With that comes power and when it comes to choosing our leaders it is all about name recognition. There is a reason that people make outlandish comments and the apologize, a reason that it has become normal to lie (although we don't like to use that word), and it works. IT WORKS.

Until there is some sort of accountability for their actions it will continue.
