(2,962 posts)America died that day.
The respect we had is gone.
We got a reprieve with President Biden but I think the damage is done.
Putin was in the White House.

(2,962 posts)Jr Bush and his family stoled that election.
I wish Gore would have fought harder.
The damage is done.

(15,421 posts)Polls at the time showed him winning it, so I don't think that he planned anything. However, Bush did everything he could to stop the count once the election happened.

(2,962 posts)And I think a Bush cousin called the election for Bush.
And the Supreme Court ruled on Bush's side.
It was a mess.
I still wish Gore would not have backed down so fast.

(3,922 posts)The real question facing this country is what will it take for the American people to come to their senses?
We will now, almost certainly, watch as a landmark decision is reversed by the theocracy.
Voters Rights? Substantially eroded and the John Lewis Act is now all but a memory.
The Rittenhouse verdict? Also substantially guts any meaningful reform of gun rights.
Filibuster? Alive and unwell.
Prosecution of seditious prominent politicians? Forgettaboutit.
I say "the American people". But what if "the American people" actually want to embrace the theocratical, authoritarian direction that the GOP is steering this country towards? Are we still the majority? Seriously, I have to wonder when we continually see our voices lost to the rabble, when so many states are carved up to support GOP rule, and while many of what we here consider basic rights are trampled by flag-waving mobs led by the GOP. Openly being a racist and and an uninformed nitwit is apparently a "right" now.
So "coming to (our) senses" may really mean that we have to face the facts that we're losing our faint grip on rule of law and democracy in this country, and that we're virtually powerless to stop it.

(45,002 posts)But a few justices really showed how republican corruption leads to brain rot. Some idiotic questions revealed their misguided prejudice. Ugh.

(11,631 posts)Given polling on the issue I do not think this will bode well for the GOP in '22.

This could also end up energizing their side more than ours.
I don't have that much faith in my fellow Americans right now.

We could have had a 7-2 liberal court.

It won't be overturned. It will be whittled down. They probably will allow abortion to be banned at 15 weeks.
Then, the religious right will still have their cash cow.
They will be lost without their abortion villain.
BTW: I've seen some bat shit crazy people on dog rescue sites. We get all these pit pulls in the San Antonio Animal Control (Aka dog pound) because they're abandoned/strays. As pets they certainly aren't for everyone. The people that own them are poor and don't fix their dogs and let them run all over the place. They're often tied up and not socialized. Pit pulls take alot of training and the majority of people get them free from a neighborhood litter or also get them as stray. They don't have the time to train them. They don't have shots, they aren't neutered. The dogs then develop behavior issues and are not good with families, so they turn them lose or surrender them. They also move into apartments or rentals and turn them lose then.
So, they end up at the pound. They don't get adopted because they're handfuls and have behavior issues. The fosters and rescues don't have room for them. Eventually some get euthanized. The people who follow them are absolutely bat shit crazy!! They are from all over the world, and they are bat shit trolls, "Murderers", "Murderers".....They are from the UK, Germany, Sweden. I feel like yelling at them, "If it bothers you so much, get your butt over here and adopt them". But they are crazy calling us murderers. They're as bad as the pro-life people. They want every single animal shelter in the world closed. They want ever single dog turned lose. It's disgusting. Rant over!
May they rot in hell at
San Antonio concentration camp
This place is so f'd up. They don't give any of these babies a Chance. San Antonio stop dumping your pets. Don't get a dog if you are not going to look after for ever. As for this S. H. Either close it down or make them stop murdering these babies.
Murderers, if animals is healthy why kill the poor babies....your going to hell.....give more time at least you can do....its all about fckng $$$$ less, more money in you pocket....except when you die you're going to shit hole......I hope when you're dying that you want to live, they will morphine you up.....Dead.....
All they do there is killing so many of Gods pups they are Gods angels without wings !
Please help!
Shared publicly with millions of prayers from Germany

Wtf. You are not A Shelter . Stop murdering these innocent babys for £ (Not $$, but British Pounds)
OH MY GOD THEY KILLED A BABY
RIP SABRINA YOUR A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRL I AM SO SORRY YOU WERE MURDERED FOR NO REASON! YOU ARE ONLY AN INNOCENT BABY 😡😡😡😡
How sad and pathetic! ****ing 2 months old!!! Are you frigging kidding me! You do nothing to save these babies! Your are some screwed up people who dont give a dam about these animals!!
Your day will come when you have to answer to GOD!!! (Sabrina had distemper..)
From a Pit Bull rescue: CANNOT pose a threat to humans we do not accept dogs with a bite history under any circumstances
If there have been reactivity issues with other animals, you will need to have the dog evaluated by a professional at your expense

(5,499 posts)I think the Thomas/Alito opinion will go all in to say that there is no constitutional right to abortion. I think the Roberts opinion will say that viability has changed and the Mississippi law is the new standard. So he'll essentially say there is a right to abortion but states have a compelling interest to be able to cap that right at fetal viability.
Thomas/Alito will be joined by Barrett (she'll write a concurrent opinion saying adoption options also remove the undue burden of an unwanted pregnancy).
The question will be what the other two do. And what if we have a 6-3 decision but the final opinion is split 3-3?
This is a mess.
This will be next year's midterm issue. And probably one of the main issues in 2024.
