We are awaiting Hubs test for COVID...can't smell and taste but has sinus issues so who knows.

confirms first case of #OmicronVariant in the USA. Individual is in California and returned from S. Africa on 11/22. "The individual, who was fully vaccinated and had mild symptoms that are improving, is self-quarantining and has been since testing positive."

He has had a mild illness and is improving. This could very well be the new variant...we shall see.

(14,972 posts)8. In hindsight, the original strain was here long before it was detected. So was Delta. It is
virtually certain Omicron has been here for a while, we just didn't know it until now.
It's important to document, I suppose, but ever since Omicron was known to exist, policy makers needed to just assume it was here or would be imminently. And as far as I can tell, they pretty much did.

Vaccination doesn't appear to stop much infection.
Fortunately and hopefully it DOES keep the cases mild though...
