Ex-chief of staff says TFG won't run because he can't be seen as 'loser' (spoiler, he is a loser)

Donald Trump’s longest-serving White House chief of staff isn’t so sure that the former president will mount a comeback campaign in 2024, even as he continues to tease another run for the White House.

“Trump won’t run,” John Kelly, a former Homeland Security secretary who served as Trump’s chief of staff for a year and a half, told The Atlantic. “He’ll continue talking about it; he may even declare, but he will not run. And the reason is he simply cannot be seen as a loser.”

I kind of suspect this myself... He wants the control (and money from the marks) so he will waffle and stall and keep the grift going but in the end I think he will not run.

And then doesn't run.

He'll say "I'm too busy with Trump Media and Technology Group to run" and he'll have a real life Apprentice Show to pick a nominee... like Kristi Noem.

is the big winner while the rest of the world saw him as a comical loser.

Exploding that world would not be easy, but the chance of it is the death of Trump. He cannot lose that world.

(not that that would be a bad thing)

time comes the GOP will tire of his "the election was stolen" lie and ditch him for a younger model like DeSantis without a loss on his record.

They've already used it to transform the electoral system and position themselves to steal the presidency for the foreseeable future.

He may be tiring for them, but They've gotten more out of him than they could have ever dreamed of.

But what if he thinks he can “win” through states rigging the vote and manipulating the electoral college?
It seems that republicans are preparing for that kind of shady election.

He's got the Republican party and voters wrapped around his fingers. Most of them do not believe he even lost the last election. I wonder if any other Republican will dare even challenge him once he announces because he and his insane base will do everything possible to destroy that person. The GOP will treat him like an incumbent -- not to be challenged.

The same thing Kelly is saying was said in 2015-2016. Over and over, people (even right here) kept saying "He's not going to run" and then it was, "He's running but he's not really serious, it's a PR stunt." Then, "He's not going to get the nomination." Then, "He's going to drop out before the election because of (x/y/z scandal)." And then people kept predicting he would resign.

When will people realize that Trump is serious? He literally attempted to stage a coup to stay in power. He is going to attempt to get that power back. He's going to be the Republican nominee in 2024 and he's going to say he won no matter what happens. We need to be prepared because I fear this time will be worse.

his future behavior.

I think of him as sort of like the movie monster that keeps getting up and going after you, no matter how many times you think it's been "neutralized".

Even if he doesn't run, he'll still threaten us in other ways. And his successor could well be worse than he is.

Trump's first campaign was supposed to be Springtime for Hitler; a campaign to raise large amounts of money and then lose, because losing campaigns are less-likely to be audited.

The movie ends with Bialystok and Bloom accidentally creating a hit, which puts all their criminality under scrutiny, they are found "Incredibly guilty," and go to jail...

where they start producing (and again over-selling shares of) their next play "Prisoners of Love."

Trump is trying to produce Prisoners of Love.
