Through all the vagaries of the electorate, the ups and downs of the country's and the commonwealth's fortunes, that seat has not been in the Democratic column for a long frickin' time.

Maybe the Republicans haven't rigged the game quite well enough yet. Georgia, too, had some very encouraging results from their election:

4th Essex is in the blue-blood North Shore (Hamilton, Manchester-by-the-Sea, the Myopia Hunt Club, etc.), so this result is a big shift, for sure. And more positive news from MA today - Gov. Charlie Baker (R) announced that he won't be running for re-election next year, pretty much guaranteeing that the governorship will be flipping from red to blue in 2022.

He wants to be able to focus on pandemic recovery this coming year, rather than on the partisan politics of running for re-election (and presumably for President as well, though that's not mentioned - and hasn't been mentioned by any MA commentators I've read or seen). Maybe he really does want to spend more time with his family.

Just HOW is this "bad news for Democrats?"

You can't just post a subject line like that, with no content, and leave it hanging.

Maybe, just maybe, enough people are waking up, suburbanites, moderates, who finally realized where we seem to be heading.
