Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday made statements during a SCOTUS hearing that many observers interpreted as laying the groundwork to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that made abortion legal in the United States.
But Sen. Susan Collins, who voted for Kavanaugh's confirmation in 2018 while stating confidently that she believed he would vote to uphold Roe, told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that she hadn't bothered to watch Kavanaugh's comments.
"I did not see his questioning or hear any of the arguments," Collins told reporters, according to Huffington Post's Igor Bobic. "I hope to later tonight play them so I have first hand knowledge
but I cant comment about what I didnt see."

I guess it takes to much for Collins to turn on a TV or even ask to go and sit in a court to hear arguments of "Concern" and then hear a "guy" gaslight and be sitting on the bench....

(58,785 posts)(think mostly younger Lawrence O'Donnell types) were paying attention to keep her updated either. Not even her legislative aides who specialize in legal and constitutional issues.
Not sure if these are Collins' DC office staffers or Maine office; senators have two sets, plus staffers serving the committees they're on.
This is McCarthy walking with a few of his staffers.

(7,134 posts)He said at his confirmation hearing that he was all about respecting precedent, that he would never go against precedent. And yet today there he was... all of a sudden Brett thinks precedent sucks, as Claire put it.
