She had started publicly discussing a run for the NY senate seat as early as February 1999 and formed an exploratory committee and embarked on a “listening tour” of New York in July 1999. She and Bill bought a house in New York two months later in September 1999 that they moved into in January — 3 months after she had filed her statement of candidacy with the FEC.

Similarly Bobby Kennedy first leased a residence in New York the same week he formally announced his candidacy and didn’t buy a place in the state until seven months after he was elected.

I point this out not as a criticism of Hillary or Bobby — there was nothing wrong with what they did. But the facts surrounding their candidacies suggest Oz’s lack of connections to Pennsylvania isn’t likely to be a significant issue in the campaign.
