(3,300 posts)But I wonder if it would have happened without them making a gun available to him.
(He might have stolen it, I suppose, but they hadn't locked it up.)
Parents sometimes try to pacify very volatile teen boys, and in some areas, that might involve getting a gun. Adam Lanza's mother did that, bought him a gun, took him to the rifle range, became his first victim.

(2,403 posts)I mean come on. Are we really going to a place where we actually believe the parents are coordinating having theor children throw their lives away? I think that is a little nuts personally.

(1,879 posts)....you don't believe that at some point a couple of nutzoid parents may do this?
A woman drove her teenage son to a riot with a gun.
To be clear: The overall statement about mass shootings is bullshit. But one of these days......

Please educate yourself.

(1,879 posts)How dare I besmirch the Shittenhouse klan.
He testified she didn't. I think he's a liar.

(2,403 posts)She didnt drive him. You are repeating false i formation. If it were up to me the little shit would be rotting in a jail cell so lets not make this about besmirching his name. But we should operate in truths not whatever makes the story more damning.

(8,917 posts)can leave an impressionable mind to the worst outcomes
I speak from lived experience, I hurt a few people when I was young, I find my actions disgusting and makes me sick
to my stomach when I am reminded, my stepfather told me to hurt people when fighting, use a rock to bash their skulls,
hurt them.
he brought out the worst in me, and I recognize it

(1,879 posts)Which seems odd. Doesn't it?
The school called them in to discuss the boys behavior problems.

(21,646 posts)sometimes you cant help but hear other peoples conversations .
I have overheard people talk about shooting any refugees or illegal immigrants if they ever encounter them . I dont know how they could determine status perhaps it doesnt matter
Mostly older white people who talk real loud about it because I guess they may have hearing problems, but I have to guess there are plenty that are working and younger with families that dont eat lunch out with friends that think the same way . They may not be loud about it in a group and keep it quietly at home
His parents perhaps may be comfortable saying this at home and probably feel their kid has to know the truth so no harm in those kind of conversations and sharing their pride in gun use
All of the adults above may be just fantasizing, but a kid growing up hearing this may take shooting as a normal recourse
The mother wrote to trump her parents (his grandparents ) have grievances about immigrants also, so could be maybe it wouldnt seem out of the ordinary to the killer to hear lots of his family rage hate with 2A solutions and then pick up on finding his own targets.
Not immigrants, but something he was triggered by at the school, and then seek solutions he has heard casually talked about when someone doesnt like something or someone else
They are closed lip and lawyered up so not much will come to light about family life , but yes I do wonder!

(26,622 posts)and was always talking about shooting people. We haven't seen them since 2016, but they're magas through and through and big Christians.. always praying for us.
Enough to know the mom was a total maga. I'm sure the kid heard plenty of crap.

(73,552 posts)School shootings tend to have many traits in common. While it is likely that, like many parents, they did not teach him appropriate conflict resolution -- one cannot teach what one does not know -- that in no meaningful sense equals "grooming," with intentional or otherwise. It merely means he had limited skills in conflict resolution.
There are many, many kids lacking these skills. The vast majority of them do not resort to gun violence. There are other psychological issues, and I've yet to see a case of a school shooter who did not have those things.

(30,540 posts)but buying a gun for a 15yr old kid who always appears depressed (according to schoolmates) is just stupid, irresponsible and asking for trouble. What in the world the parents could've been thinking is beyond my imagination.
