Another Disappointment: Richie Furay

Maybe not a surprise to some but I lost track of him. Enjoyed his music with Buffalo Springfield, Poco and the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. A little time after that he was born again and became a minister.

He is probably not a Boebert like RWNJ but there is no question on which team he is on.

No Twitter account that I could find but on Facebook, among the bible quotes are posts like this:

"WHY DO GROCERIES KEEP GETTING MORE EXPENSIVE?"
Is this really a legitimate headline on 9 News out of Denver? You have to be kidding me. Unless one's head is deep in the sand - it's pretty obvious to most of us. If you can't figure it out, just look east (you know, where sun rises) and focus on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. where there's been a "sit in" going on since January 20th.

Damn!

have turned into right wingers. We were always in a minority but I never thought I would live to see so many great musicians of the 60's be so fucking disgusting. Could it be dementia? What has happened to my generation?

4. What I find interesting about 1960s/70s era hippies that are today right wingers is...

that they're farther to the right than the generation they rebelled against.

in it for the trendy fashion show. As soon as it was no longer "trendy" to be a hippie, the phony hippies got into disco, sold out, and became Yuppies in the 80's.

I know plenty of old hippies who are still talking the talk and walking the walk.

one of my favorite films:

A MAGA buddy and I were talking about musical likes around the time Belinda Carlisle appeared briefly on Dancing with the Stars. I told him I liked the Go Gos. He said, "You know Belinda is a Republican." I told him I never heard that. He swore she is a conservative. I said, "Well, okay." and left it at that because he was really proud of it.

I went back on Twitter last year after a long absence, shortly after that a couple musings popped up by fellow Go Go Kathy Valentine. Thinking back on what he said I searched Belinda. Wow, she is probably as much of a progressive as any of the other members of the group.

I still haven't the heart to tell my buddy.
