Unemployment rate falls to 4.2%, Economy adds 210,000 jobs

https://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

550,000 jobs were expected, but the UE rate is a huge drop. These have been getting revised by large amounts in coming months, this will be played a s a big miss, but it will probably end up really good.

Wage growth is breaking records, almost a 5% increase in the last year.

But NY Times portrays the situation as gloom.

Employers added 210,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department reported Friday, well below the half-million gain that had been expected. While the data was collected well before the Omicron variant emerged, the figures underscore the economy’s fragility as the pandemic persists.

The fact Biden got us this close to the record lows in less than a year on the job is incredible.

Most of the rest of the report is pretty positive.
