I understand #1 that Weissmann wants to sell a book. I also read something interesting called "the alternate Mueller report." I believe that these are occasions where Weissman and other prosecutors disagreed with Mueller's decisions and they put their disagreements in writing. I believe the NY Times is suing the justice department to release the alternate Mueller report. A couple of the main disagreements that Weissman and others had with Mueller were, 1. to subpoena Trump to testify, and 2. to prosecute Trump for obstruction of justice.
With all of this said, some people are calling Weissmann a traitor for backstabbing Mueller, some are calling him a kind of whistleblower.
Not sure if DOJ is going to release this "alternate Mueller report" or not but it would certainly be explosive. It is extremely critical of Bill Barr for one thing.
Honestly, I hope Weissmann's account of the investigation is released to the public and no I'm not buying his book.

I support burning books...but only the ones by journalists and insiders who used the tragedy to make money instead of doing their job.

(36,470 posts)I was hoping the reason we hadn't see Weissman on the news show was that he was working hard with the DOJ to indict & convict Trump on one or more of the many legal issues he's facing. Alas, he's been working on a book.

(7,282 posts)I never knew whether he voluntarily resigned or was forced to resign at the time. But shortly after he left, Mueller officially ends the "investigation" and you know the rest of the cover up story.
I blame Mueller fully. We sung his praises to the heavens during those two years. I say "we" because I was an enthusiastic member of the choir. But as it turns out, it wasn't fully deserved. Mueller turned out to be Bill Barr's "yes man"
That realization was crushing for me.
Throughout it all, I've maintained positive respect and appreciation for Weisman with a slight skepticism at some point later. I don't believe my initial impressions were misplaced, at least not yet.
I knew he was writing a book, i think l learned it on Ari Melber's show at one point. I do recall being disappointed he hadn't revealed what happened wrt events behind the investigation, but still felt like I should with hold judgment and wait until the book comes out before drawing any conclusions as to his integrity. which i still hold high.
I do look forward to the book being released and will borrow at the library.

(21,349 posts)will only benefit Trump and Barr. I see that the right wing rag Washington Examiner is also bashing Weissmann and doesn't want the report released.
