Mail Carriers Do Not Set USPS Policy - Remember Them this Season

If you're lucky, you have a thoughtful hard-working mail carrier. I know we do. From time to time, he will drop off a package at our door, instead of putting it in one of the parcel compartments at our development's mail pod. He always has a wave for residents, and can be seen petting their doggies from time to time.

So, sometime before Christmas, he's going to find a card in our mailbox, along with two boxes of local Abdallah's chocolates to share with his friends or family. I hope he has a wonderful holiday season, too. He has certainly handled enough cards and packages already this year.

Even if you're upset with USPS operations, please remember that your carrier is not responsible for policy. He or she just delivers your mail. Six days a week. That's worth a solid thank you!

1. I would like to do this but I would have to hand it to her or him.

We have one of those big boxes with 16 boxes for the neighborhood and the slot to put outgoing is too small.

If I were to put it in my box, it would be ignored pretty sure as we do not get the same mailperson each day and assume they would assume it was a left over thing that I had not taken out yet.

But you are right, it not only is not their fault, they are being overworked by that fascist prick.

I sent a cobra/dental insurance payment to my carrier the old fashioned way as that is the only way I can and it took 18 days to get cross country.

what a PRICK

"For our Mail Carrier" he won't be able to take the card without the boxes. We have the same carrier each day.

We have one of those same boxes for the neighborhood and the development. Our compartment is plenty big for the chocolates and a card.

I'm not concerned about any of that. However, you reminded me to check that profile and see if it needs updating. Going to do that right now.

ETA: I see I already updated that information.

I made a point to wait for him to arrive at my box. Living in an apartment, I don't get a chance to see him.

Each year I leave him a card with $25. enclosed to thank him for the little extras he does, like putting boxes inside the hallway door, taking my outgoing mail (lots) so I don't have to drop it off, etc. Last Christmas, in return, "Mo" left me a beautiful handmade origami ornament and a sweet note. He was pleased when I mentioned it to him today, and told me the backstory that he learned origami from his late grandfather many years ago.

My concerns about the USPS aren't triggered by my local carriers. As you say, it's the higher-ups making the decisions, not the "Mo"s delivering to my door. The local guys do a great job.
