Republicans have simply decided to "play the odds". They've done the math and understand that "only" about 15% of all Americans have gotten covid and, of those, only about 1.6% have died. Stated another way, for every 10,000 people in the US's 330,000,000 population, "only" about 24 have died of covid.
Per "Worldometers", we've had 49,751,048 covid cases and 806,651 covid deaths. But, Republicans don't care about those numbers and they don't care that their minimizing of the threat and disparagement of masks and vaccines will undoubtedly increase both of them substantially. They are willing to "bet" that covid will not kill them AND-------they are betting that thousands and thousands more dead Americans will be bad for Biden and his party and good for the political fortunes of Trump and his disciples.
There have been more than a few immoral political strategies in this flawed nation before, but those were "merely" immoral. The current words and actions of the GOP are "AMORAL"--- they don't give a damn how many people their disinformation kills so long as it gets Republican majorities in Congress and Trump back in the White House.

That was actually Trumps strategy last election, Covid was responsible for voter fraud. he knew he was gonna losse and was looking for a way to cry foul
