(44,973 posts)Until the guy grabbed her purse, how was she to know he was going to grab her purse? Are you suggesting beating people up when they get near you? If somebody walks behind you it usually doesn't mean he is planning to grab your purse.

(2,244 posts)the other way, just gut instinct. Just seems like I'd have a better chance facing him head on, he might decide it's not worth it.

(2,244 posts)to be oblivious of your surroundings. It doesn't mean you run in fear from anyone who gets closer than 6 feet from you, but it's always good to be aware. And once you've been a victim, you're probably a lot more aware than the average person.

(32,457 posts)showing that he was walking a few feet behind me. I jumped involuntarily, turned and yelled. A cop car was parked at nearby store, I told him I would call cop. He ran off but cursed me as he did.

(3,564 posts)That looks like it took place on 5th Avenue and Cherry street, which is diagonally across from the street from SPD, right down the street from the County Jail, and the next street over from the City of Seattle Office buildings.
