A.I. Shows Mainstream Media Is Working Overtime To Knock Biden Down

Mainstream Media Analysis Shows Biden Gets More Negative Coverage than Trump

According to a new study covered in the Washington Post, the average political news consumer is finding far more negative coverage of Joe Biden than that for Donald Trump, a man who handled an epidemic about as poorly as it could be handled and played some role in what amounted to a failed coup.

According to the Post, a very sophisticated meta-study was done regarding the coverage each man received:

Artificial intelligence can now measure the negativity with precision.
-snip-

Using algorithms that give weight to certain adjectives based on their placement in the story, it rated the coverage Biden received in the first 11 months of 2021 and the coverage President Donald Trump got in the first 11 months of 2020.

There is a very important point buried in that last sentence. Most presidents enjoy a honeymoon period. This study did not cover Trump’s “honeymoon,” it measured Trump’s last year, a year that could only be described as “disastrous” on a historic level, especially as compared to Biden’s first year which, despite some setbacks, has largely been a spectacular return to “normalcy.”

And yet:

After a honeymoon of slightly positive coverage in the first three months of the year, Biden’s press for the past four months has been as bad as — and for a time worse than — the coverage Trump received for the same four months of 2020.

The article then goes on to highlight some of the most devastating events which occurred in Trump’s final year, culminating in the first violent transfer of power in our history, all of it versus Biden’s first year – this year:

And yet Trump got press coverage as favorable as, or better than, Biden is getting today.

-snip-

There is something very wrong in American media if Joe Biden is receiving more negative media attention of his first – largely successful year – than the devastating trail that Trump blazed in his final year. - PoliticusUSA

JRB is having a remarkably successful first year in office, but the mainstream media can't sell television ads that reflects success, when dirt sells at a higher price. They need to elevate their beloved marketing boogeyman, TFG, to keep the money rolling in.

Know this. If you're tuning in every day hoping for some good news about Biden, then they have you hooked. Turn that shit off! Or better yet, write letters to that phony news station and let them have it with both barrels. WTF?!!

had a data analytic firm comb through the media reports and they apparently compiled it in a spreadsheet that is located here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/tag7liqrbqzye67/milbank-wapo-biden-media-sentiment-2021-v3.xlsx?dl=0

I haven't opened the spreadsheet up in Excel yet but will probably do so later today...

The WaPo piece is here (paywall) - https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/12/03/biden-media-coverage-worse-trump-favorable/

But here is a screenshot from WaPo of the data -

we discuss it...not just here on DU, but in our circles of friends. But NONE of the people who listen to right wing media believe one word of any study that doesn't make them out to be the victims.

occupied so they nitpick every breath he takes. Republicans love it. Despite the facts, they've got people convinced it's the end times and Democrats are orchestrating it. They blame Biden for not ending the Covid pandemic out of one side of their mouths and out the other they're telling the sheep not to wear masks or get vaccinated. Rachel's segment last week that included "magic dirt" kind of sums it all up. There is a segment of our population that is so nuts or dimwitted or easily manipulated they'll consume dirt to prevent Covid and feed it to their kids, too. I don't know how we get out of this mess when half the people are such easy dupes.

If Biden/dems had a Justice Department that started arresting every GOPunk criminal, starting with Trump, Biden's approval rating would skyrocket.

He could even call it "The war on corruption" for even higher ratings.
