Those of us who are nowhere near as good or experienced lawyers as Glenn Kirschner dont doubt his statement. Our doubts lay in whether any strong prosecutors exist (and have the authority) to step in and bring the darn case in court.

(349 posts)I don't doubt the ability of prosecutors to bring a convincing case. What worries me is that a single Trump supporter on the jury can stop a conviction.

But it would not be a fair trial if a person could not look at the evidence in an honest and fair manner.

I'm sure prosecutors realize that it would be near impossible to seat a jury that didn't have at least one Trumphumper on it.

(47,602 posts)and others I have my doubts. I suppose that after years of blatant, in-your-face corruption, most of us have become extremely impatient and we also know too well how often Trump has escaped accountability.

(11,069 posts)Why not get a rally going- we can go to the Capitol and get all the Trumpers in Congress together and deal with them as well!
Even better, lets get some flags, steal some podiums and laptops, maybe even shit on a desk or two?
Should we also go to the Supreme Court and drag them out for a curb stomping too?
You know, we could also go and set our Trumper neighbors houses on fire.
Maybe throw bricks through windows at pro-Trump businesses.
This could be so much fun!

Drag the Trumpers our of their house and give the house to someone more deserving ...
Pro Trump businesses should have their taxes tripled to drive them out ...
This will be fun.

(9,670 posts)I used to, but I've given up. In fact, I've given up on the entire concept of democracy when the only political influence worth a shit in this country is capitalism. Oh, I know capitalism isn't political, but its incorporation into our democratic republic rendered the entire experiment a failure. We go through the motions, opining what is right and what is wrong, what is legal and what is criminal, but it's all a mind game when crimes at the highest levels aren't prosecuted when the rest of us shudder every time a blue light pulls us over.
I used to believe what I was taught in civics class. Now I understand, though the intentions were pure, the actual embodiment of the Constitution has gone up in a puff of smoke. We're a middling country with more money and power than honesty and integrity, and that will be our downfall.
By the way, I still believe the Dems are the good guys here. We're the ones trying to play by the rules, but the other side is more concerned with power than rules. Too many of them to prosecute so we lose.

(15,553 posts)I agree with all of it. Unfettered, rampant and out of control capitalism will be our downfall. It's more important to our citizenry than democracy.
There is little doubt that $$$ has corrupted our political system. Realize though that Trump is far more driven by his lust for power than he is by money only. He's never really been that interested in being a successful businessman. What he wants is control and vengeance to his enemies and those that dare to oppose him.
One thing to bear in mind - if the American experiment does come to an end, and we move toward some sort of authoritarian state, corporations will not necessarily benefit. Chaos and instability do not make for a happy Wall Street.

NOTHING he has predicted has come true.
While I certainly hope his predictions come true, so far the DOJ has been crickets on the most criminally corrupt traitor in American history. If Doturd is not charged, arrested and frog marched before the midterms, our democracy is PERMANENTLY FUCKED.
