(33,207 posts)a master's degree in general studies.
Having such a thing makes perfect sense at the bachelor's level, if one intends to go on to law or medicine.
But, postgraduate? Come on! Pick a major, any major!
It screams professional student. How many intro classes are there?

(32,094 posts)Not all Masters degrees require a thesis.

(1,568 posts)My masters is in online Education and we had to create a class from start to finish and include justifications and analysis. It was 100,000 words but not a publishable thesis.

(32,094 posts)Not to mention that his tweet makes no fucking sense? "Fauci can be the science"? What the fuck does that mean? BTW, I have a MS degree, too. Mine's actually in Biology, and I can assure you that Mr. Massie isn't a fucking "master" of anything having to do with medicine.

But it just highlights the fact that smart people can be the most dangerous members of cults.

Over time that can morph into an Ayn Randian worldview where the parasites in society are holding back the true geniuses like Elon Musk and of course themselves.

(11,260 posts)He is a socially inept PhD in computer science that has a strong mathematical background as well. I have this on good authority since I went to high school with his odious daughters
I didnt know how nasty they were though at the time. They seemed nice enough, but were the type that didnt interact with kids not in honors classes. After they graduated, Robert was convinced to leave IBMs speech recognition department for Renaissance and the rest is history.
Robert is obsessed with gun rights and government spending (his taxes). To him, the amount of money you make determines your societal worth. A friend of mine from HS that I reconnected with accidentally through the workplace visits them once in a while as he was friendly with one of the daughters. According to my friend, he is definitely off and can easily be influenced by right wing ideologues who are cleverly manipulative (Read: Steve Bannon).

(7,510 posts)Following Massie's unsuccessful push, Trump said Massie should be removed from the Republican Party, calling him a "third rate [g]randstander"; John Kerry quipped that he "tested positive for being an asshole"; Representative Sean Patrick Maloney tweeted, "@RepThomasMassie is indeed a dumbass"; Representative Dean Phillips called his actions a "principled but terribly misguided stunt".[citation needed] Some Republicans defended Massie: Paul Gosar called him a "good man and a solid conservative" and Chip Roy said Massie was "defending the Constitution today by requiring a quorum".[77]

(3,557 posts)I might be wrong, but I seem to remember that when I was in college that the only people in my school who received a Masters of Science degree in any of the sciences (i.e chemistry, physics, or biology) only got those degrees when their PhD thesis didnt make the cut.
So, a masters of science degree isnt anything to brag about.

(59,504 posts)him in their alumni magazine pretty often - I have a daughter who went there. I doubt MIT includes Massie on any list of alumni they are proudest of.
We know that he is not respected by Massachusetts leaders and former leaders - https://democraticunderground.com/100213183999 I think he may be the ONLY person John Kerry ever attacked like this.
