Trump attacks media and Mark Milley in foul-mouthed Mar-a-Lago speech to young rightwingers

In remarks to diners at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Saturday night, Donald Trump called the American media “crooked ba**ards” and Gen Mark Milley, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, a “fu**ing idiot”.

The meandering, foul-mouthed speech to Turning Point USA, a group for young conservatives, was streamed by Jack Posobiec, a rightwing blogger and provocateur.

The insult to the press recalled barbs while Trump was in power, including calling reporters and editors “fake news” and the “enemy of the people”, attacks many in the media regarded as dangerous, inviting political violence.

“The country is at a very important, dangerous place,” Trump said, amid familiar lies about his defeat in the 2020 election, which he says was the result of electoral fraud.

“We have no press. The press is so corrupt. We don’t have a press. If there is a good story about us, a good story about any of the people that are Republicans, conservatives, they make it a bad story. And if it’s a bad story they make it the worst story in history. It is the most dishonest group of people.”

to appear fair - to him. Members of the press know what'll happen if they're critical of the right. They'll get hate mail, hate phone calls, death threats, even threats to their families. It's ugly out there and the press is mostly scared.

The reporting is skewed all right, but it's not against them. He's been given a pass from day 1. I think his treatment of Megyn Kelly sent an effective message. Many in the media didn't need any more persuasion than that. They got in line.

what must it be like to have a mind that is so full of resentment, hostility, self-victimization, vindictiveness, and just plain cruelty? His aggression is boundless. My word, what a view of the world. I never want to know what it's like to see the world from his view. He cannot be a happy man.

I know some DUers will chide me for feeling sorry for Trump. But as a Buddhist, I am taught that all contaminated phenomena (like a mind disturbed with hostility and selfishness) are of the nature of suffering. The suffering that man has caused-- not just to himself -- but to millions of others is gigantic. If he could get away with arresting and executing his perceived enemies, which surely must be legion, I believe he would do it.

His crimes are no secret. I ask myself, when is DOJ going to lower the boom and arrest that criminal?

I very often imagine that the Dalai Lama is right next to me, and I ask him to take me by the hand and help me see what he sees. I've read enough of his books to know that he sees that each and every sentient being has a Buddha nature. Which is that we are born with a basic sanity and basic goodness. Yes, even Donny Trump has a Buddha nature. Let that sink in. It's why it's so very tragic -- of Greek tragedy proportion. He was born with enough resources, advantages, and leisure that he could have done so much to benefit the well-being of others.

Alternatively Joe Biden appears to me as a basically happy man, because he has spent a life of service working for the benefit of others. I'm sure you've noticed that he doesn't slime people with ugly envious labels. At least not in public. lol

For me, Trump is an object lesson in how NOT to be.

Information has just come out by a whistleblower, that Michael Flynn's brother, Charles and another general lied to Congress about the delay in sending in the national guard on 1/6.
